If you were to Google “trampoline fail,” then you would be presented with a lot of videos of people falling off trampolines. What those videos hardly ever show is the aftermath and how serious those injuries can become. This is not to say that you can’t have fun on a backyard trampoline but just as with having a swimming pool you need to take extra precaution to make sure everyone who is using the trampoline follows the safety rules. One Jumper at a Time

It is hard to keep a bunch of kids off of a trampoline together. They don’t see the harm with all of them bouncing simultaneously. Unfortunately, they really don’t have much control of where they’ll be bouncing. Just two jumpers can forcibly bounce into each other and that’s not going to do either one of those jumpers any good. The “one jumper at a time” rule can minimize that risk of colliding.

No Jumper Under Five

If you’re a young toddler has gone into a bounce house, then you know how hard it is to get them out of that bounce house! You might think that a trampoline operates in the same principle but it is a completely different type of activity. Again, it’s all about control and predictability. You’re never going to bounce very high in a bounce house. But a trampoline can definitely send a young person soaring where they shouldn’t be.

No Stunts

Left alone, your trampoline jumpers may want to try and set up various stunts that would have them jumping from the trampoline into a pool or from a roof onto the trampoline. No doubt, they will want to videotape the stunts in the hope of making a viral video. This needs to be discouraged on all levels. Professional gymnastics work out for years before they do any trampoline type stunts. If your kids want to get into those kinds of gymnastics, then they should take classes as opposed to trying to teach them self.

Inspect For Damage

Every jump session on a trampoline is going to create a certain amount of stress. That can result in the trampoline mat becoming torn or the springs uncoupling. You should inspect for damage before any jumping session starts.

If things get too far out of control with regard to damage, then you might want to remove the trampoline altogether.
