Going green matters. That was the lesson learned from the 1,000 attendees to a recent environmental fair sponsored by Go Green Wilmette. This was a chance for local residents, teachers, students, government officials and families to share in an interactive experience covering a wide range of eco-friendly topics. Attendees found out about how to attract butterflies to a backyard garden, how to work with solar energy and how to keep the Great Lakes clean. By all accounts, it was an extremely successful day.
“Last year the counter showed 825 people, so there were more people, and we’re still not finished totaling numbers,” she said. “It was just amazing. There’s no question that it was the best ever. The turnout was fantastic, the venue worked incredibly well, and the level of enthusiasm and engagement was terrific,” event organizer Beth Drucker told a Wilmette newspaper.
Are you going green this spring? The simple act of planting a garden or cutting back on the AC would certainly qualify as going green. However, you can extend the philosophy beyond your power cutting measures and home recycling. A company like Junk King has made “going green” an active part of their business model. Their responsible disposal policy is the standard every junk removal company should follow.
Junk King maintains a 60% diversion rate. That translates into 60% of everything they collect being kept out of local landfills. They accomplish this task by training their crews how to sort. Not only will these workers to all the lifting and loading for you, but they also want to keep an eye out for any item that might be recycled or donated. The most common items for recycling are all the e-waste you throw out such as computers, monitors, printers and television. Scrap metal, lumber and concrete are also top of the list of recyclables collected by Junk King.
As for the donations, this can mean anything from your old sofa to your kid’s outgrown bedroom set. Even if something needs a little sprucing up, there are plenty of charities that can accommodate that job. Junk King has a terrific working relationship with a wide array of charities and certified recycling centers. Even if this means making a few extra drop offs, they are happy to comply. Go green with your junk removal thanks to the eco-friendly crew from Junk King.
