The Best Reasons to Renovate – Homeowners and Property Owners in North Atlanta

We all tend to put off things, especially when those things involve a lot of time or commitment or money. All too often we push off things because we think they can be done later, at a better time. In reality, the best time to do substantial changes to your home or your property is right after you’ve committed to the idea. If you aren’t committed to moving forward with your plans yet, here are some motivating things you should know.

Donald Rattner, an architect and author, describes the relationship between our homes and our mental states as two sides of the same coin; “Our mental space stands in direct proportion to our perception of physical space.” What does this mean exactly? It means that for humans, our physical surroundings become mental, especially when we don’t like those surroundings.

Things that we don’t like in our home will raise levels of cortisol, the stress hormone which induces our fight-or-flight mode. If you’ve ever needed to leave a room in your house and immediately felt relief, this is that response. However, if we stay in that area too long, we can start to have real mental and physical effects, including stress responses in our brain functions:

– Our brains will kick our physical state into a phase called ‘residual stress’, characterized by low energy, headaches, and muscle pains.

– We’ll also feel the stress on an emotional level, making us suddenly moody, overwhelmed, or lonely even when around family and friends.

– Our cognition also suffers, giving us subtle messages, like having a lack of focus or increased forgetfulness.

You Have Control Over Managing Your Stress

What can be done about these emotions and stress levels? Well, the obvious answer is to do something about the surroundings to make them more palatable for you—but there are statistics to back up why this will work. The National Association of Realtors completed an impact report in 2019; in it, they reviewed surveyed information from homeowners regarding both indoor and outdoor renovations. One of the biggest metrics they looked at was how the homeowners felt after completing the renovations. Here is what was said in the introduction of the study:

Americans spend $400 billion annually on remodeling their homes. However, many find the idea of taking on a remodeling project too overwhelming to attempt…Taking on projects is often worth the investment and time. After remodeling, 74 percent of owners have a greater desire to be in their home. Sixty-five percent have increased enjoyment in their home. Fifty-eight percent feel happy and 38 percent feel satisfied when they see their completed project with a typical Joy Score of 9.6 [out of 10].

What Did They Find?

Let’s look at some of the reported results. After over 2,000 respondents were asked, those who completed a full kitchen renovation reported a Joy Score of 10 out of 10. 24% of the respondents chose to do the project because of worn-out surfaces, finishes, or materials. Then, another 20% reported that they wanted to customize the room since moving into the new home. What were the most important results of the renovation being completed?

– 46% of respondents said they received better functionality and livability from the completion.

– 93% of the respondents had an increased desire to be home since the completion.

– 95% said that they had an increased sense of enjoyment when they were home.

– 87% of them reported that they felt a sense of accomplishment when they think of the project and its completion.

It’s undeniable that our homes play an important part in our mental states on a day-to-day basis. Further, the results in The National Association of Realtors’ report speak to the importance of changing those things which bother us about our homes. It is better for those who live in the home, and it is better for those who come after too.

Before the Renovations Start – Advice from Junk King in North Atlanta

We’ve had a lot of home renovators call on us for help removing their junk and excess materials. You could say that we’ve assisted in our fair share of renovations, providing a smooth and convenient way to clean up, both when the process is getting started and when it is over. Every time we’re called on to help, we learn a little more about the process and the downfalls of renovators. Here are some of the best pieces of advice that we can give you, to make the entire process go quickly, safely, and hopefully under budget.

Plan Ahead

It’s not useful to think about renovations, commit to them, get motivated by articles online, then buy all of your materials—only to waiver once you get the resources. By setting up a plan, you will know how to beat the stereotypes of home renovators; and you’ll get that sweet, sweet, serotonin upon completion. If you stick to it, you might even know the exact day you’ll finish.

Set a Budget

Unexpected costs are a part of the renovation game. After gathering quotes, you should always add another 10% on top of your estimated costs. You may be able to lower the cost by doing some of the work yourself, but complex things like plumbing or wiring should be done by professionals. Part of your budget should be factoring what could go wrong if the work is done badly and preparing for that by getting the right people.

If you plan ahead and set a budget, you’re already in the top percent of renovators that are more likely to finish the work. However, that does not mean that your preparations are done. Whatever room you are renovating, no matter what room it is, or where it is, you’ll need to empty it and prioritize items. Taking the time to remove items from the room before you start, will make the process easier, and having that stuff in other rooms will also push you to finish too. Organize your objects before you remodel, and give us a call when things are ready to be taken away.

Junk King has Services for Your Renovation in North Atlanta

There are two times you want to consider calling us during your renovation. Once at the beginning, and once at the end. (And maybe in the middle somewhere if things get really messy.) Calling us in the beginning will give you the best chance at completing your renovation because you’ll be removing unnecessary items from both your home and the renovation space. Then, calling us at the end will give you a chance to get rid of broken things, excess material, and any items you ended up not fitting into the new space. Plan ahead for us to come at least twice during the process, and you can make the most out of both trips.

Dumpsters Can Help During Renovations

We’ve found that the most common and beneficial way to utilize our services during a renovation is by ordering one of our dumpster rentals.  Our dumpster rentals are rated #1 in North America, giving you convenient drop-offs straight into your driveway. How can we make that better? By giving you fair and flexible pricing, that only requires you to pay for the space used. Only use half the dumpster? Only pay for that half, saving you money, and keeping you within budget.

You Can Recycle Some of Your Junk?

You may wonder what happens to your stuff and junk once it’s taken from your home. We are one of the cleanest running junk removers in the world. We recycle, reuse, or donate almost 60% of everything we remove. That’s the difference between us and normal dumpster removers—those other guys won’t bother to recycle, taking everything and anything to the local landfill. This harms the environment and the local community, both of which we care greatly about.

At Junk King, we can handle almost anything and everything that you can throw at us—except for hazardous waste. The stuff you’re going to be interested in for renovations is going to be our ability to remove, recycle, and donate, furniture, garbage, and construction waste materials. Almost everything in construction can be handled by us, including tiling, drywall, flooring, windows, frames, debris, and even floorboards.

Events where a dumpster rental in Atlanta make sense

Atlanta is a beautiful city, with some of the finest countryside and architecture the great state of Georgia offers. If you’re a homeowner or working professionally in the Atlanta area, you’ve probably noticed that it’s important to put real care into maintaining property throughout the city—whether it’s yours or that of a client. In either case, it’s reasonably safe to assume you’re no stranger to doing a little work around the house every so often. If that’s true, you’ve doubtlessly found yourself in need of trustworthy waste management tools once each job is complete. Dumpster rental helps Atlanta renovators, spring cleaners, DIYers, and working professionals find the equipment they need to take care of the junk their efforts produce.

dumpster rental AtlantaHowever, dumpster rental isn’t the only waste management option available to Atlanta residents. You may have considered renting a dumpster before, but been stopped in your tracks by the question of whether it’s really the best method. The truth is, no waste management solution is perfect for every situation—that’s why different strategies exist. However, dumpster rental in Atlanta is particularly useful under certain circumstances, and you should take time to learn what they are so that you can pursue the most effective course of action if you ever subject to them.

At Junk King, we’ve seen people rent dumpsters for all kinds of reasons. Our experience of helping customers from varied backgrounds across North America has given us a profound degree of insight into the situations where dumpster rental proves most useful (we’ve also seen a few situations where we can’t honestly recommend it). To help you, we’ve compiled a list of five events you could find yourself involved with where dumpster rental in Atlanta could come in handy. Read the following paragraphs and learn all you need to know about when to rent a dumpster for your purposes.

Five Situations Where Dumpster Rental in Atlanta Can be Your Best Friend

Based on what we’ve seen, these are five of the best reasons to rent a dumpster if you’re in the Atlanta area:

  1. You have a serious need to declutter your home.

We’ve all been in situations where we allow unwanted objects to pile up in our homes. Maybe you have a storage closet or spare room in which you’ve become fond of keeping old furniture, knick-knacks, appliances or clothing. If that’s the case, you’ve probably become quite accustomed to just cramming these items into a space and forgetting that they exist. However, you might be in for a nasty surprise this time, when you open the door a crack and a mountain of junk that has been building up for years spills out at your feet.

Even if you don’t have a “danger zone” in your home—a specific repository for unwanted goods that you often forget to check or clean until it’s reached disaster-status—you’ll probably notice that your home becomes cluttered in general during the winter. When the weather cools down, people spend less time outdoors, which usually means they spend more time bringing things into their homes. By the time spring is ready to arrive, a lot of these homes have a pressing need for a good dejunking. They don’t call it “spring cleaning” for nothing!

Dumpster rental makes an ideal solution to this problem because it offers renters unparalleled flexibility. When you hire a dumpster, you’ll have it for the entire duration of your rental period. That means you’ll be completely free to create your cleaning schedule and alter it as you see fit within that window.

  1. You’re undertaking an ambitious handyperson project.

Maybe you aren’t the kind of person who contents themselves with simply cleaning your home. Perhaps you like to spend some time each year repairing, upgrading or refurbishing some of its features. Many homeowners take pride in keeping their home in line with current trends so that they can feel luxurious in their living spaces or impress visitors. Others are concerned with ensuring that their properties stay valuable, in case they decide to sell them and wish to make a profit.

When you’re readying your home for sale, there are two areas you should pay extremely close attention to: the kitchen and the bathroom. Both these have the potential to be big, expensive jobs. However, they’re also likely to add the most value to your home when you decide to put it on the market. As such, many homeowners make a point of doing periodic work on their kitchens and bathrooms, which means they must deal with a lot of varied materials. Ceramic tiles, drywall, piping, and fixtures such as counters or faucets are just a few of the items you’ll need to replace if you’re upgrading one of these spaces.

Those items can be difficult to rid yourself of, so a dumpster rental can be extraordinarily helpful. You might not have much luck putting your old sink by the curb and hoping the local garbage collectors take it away for you, but when you rent a dumpster, you’ll be able to dispose of these materials without any hassle. Since some dumpster rental companies also offer cost-effective pricing models, you may be able to save money on your waste management and score a bigger profit on the sale of your home.

  1. You and your sweetheart are expecting a new baby soon!

Kitchens and bathrooms are far from the only rooms in your home that you’ll ever want to work on, and not all work is done because you’re thinking of selling. You might just as well want to start using a room in your house for a different purpose—such as raising a baby, for example.

Purchasing new property is becoming more difficult in many regions throughout the United States, so many new families that are lucky enough to have a starter home decide to stay in it even when they begin to expand. Instead of trying to buy a house with more space, they simply change the existing space in their home. It’s quite common for an expecting couple to convert spare rooms into nurseries or playrooms for their incoming tot(s).

Like other renovations, repurposing a spare room can require you to add in—and throw out—a lot of material. If you’re making way for a toddler in your home, you’ll also want to go through your house and pick out any objects that aren’t baby-safe. A rental dumpster can be one of the simplest and easiest ways to collect these items and have them taken away so that you can welcome the new baby to your home in full peace of mind.

  1. You’re planning a block party or other large social event.

Dumpsters are excellent for storing construction materials and unwanted objects from inside the home, but they’re also useful for collecting the remnants of outdoor events. When the weather starts to warm up in Atlanta, people start celebrating. It’s quite common to see gatherings of friends and family members enjoying refreshments on lawns, in backyards, or in gardens. These gatherings can produce a fair amount of debris, but don’t worry—a rental dumpster is perfect for holding them. Instead of letting the wind scatter your paper plates or plastic cups around the yard, just gather them together and place them in a rented container for pickup when the event is all over.

  1. You’re landscaping.

In addition to human-made objects, dumpsters can be excellent for storing organic materials. If you’re involved with a landscaping project (either for your own home or that of a client), a dumpster can be ideal for storing the leftover dirt, stones, and yard waste. Some dumpsters will also accept synthetic outdoor building materials such as concrete. Contact a dumpster rental company in your area and ask them about their options. You may also benefit from choosing a rental company that employs eco-friendly disposal methods so that these items will be recycled or reused properly.

Learning when dumpster rental in Atlanta can be useful will help you save time and reduce stress the next time you find yourself in an applicable situation. Remember the five situations listed above, and when one of them pops up in your life, don’t hesitate—call a professional dumpster rental company ASAP!

What To Avoid In An Atlanta Junk Removal Company

If you attempt to haul away heavy junk items from your home, it can turn out to be a time consuming and complicated process. You’ll need to bring in help to move those heavy objects. Will you hire day laborers? You also have to rent a truck to haul those pieces out. If that truck doesn’t have a lift gate, then you’re really in for a struggle. Losing time comes into play when you have to drive around looking for the proper dumping facility. Then it’s returning the truck and dropping your workers off. That whole process can take up an entire day off. Is that how you want to spend your Saturday? Instead, you want a company that can provide the movers, the trucks and not take up any of your time. That company would be Junk King.

New-Facebook-Profile-Pic

Let’s face it; every company is eager to get your business. That is especially true in the junk removal industry. Just because a company books you for an appointment, doesn’t automatically mean they’ll show up for that appointment when they promise. A quick glance at the Junk King reviews will find that being “on time” is something most of the customers where very pleased with.

They also appreciate a courteous work crew. When you hire someone to come into your place to perform a task, you don’t know if they’re going to be nice or respect you. However, with Junk King you can count on that kind of positive behavior. These crews are following the standards handed down by the parent company. That have to perform at a high level of customer service otherwise they won’t be able to carry the valuable Junk King brand.

The junk removal company you hire should also have a responsible plan with regard to disposing of your junk. You don’t want to simply hear, “We’ll take care of it.” Instead, you should be told where your junk will end up. With Junk King, that means the majority of your rubbish could find its way to a recycling center or local charity. Junk King strives to keep as much of what they collect out of a landfill. That’s good news for the environment. Ask anyone who has hired Junk King in the past and you’re sure to get a recommendation. Junk King didn’t become Atlanta’s leading junk removal company by accident. They did it with excellent customer service.
