Steve and Colleen Trotter are the owners and operators of Junk King Gold Country. The Trotters are an epitome of Junk King’s ideals of helping the community. Junk King recycles or donates 60% of its haul that the Trotters are more than willing to adhere to. The husband and wife team go beyond the 60% mark to help the communities around them. Junk King Gold Country does not only help the environment, but also supports the community.
Some of the organizations and charities that the Trotters help include Freed, Fire Department’s Thrift Store, Interfaith Food Ministry, KARE Crisis Nursery, Lions Club, and the Seven Hills Middle School Recycle Project just to name a few. The couple recycles and donates usable junk such as glasses, toys, handicap supplies, bikes, and other similar items that other people can still use. “We recycle more than most and then donate these items back to the community,” they say. “We’ve donated our time and trucks to clean up homeless camps, veteran’s home, Hospitality House, and a low income family about to lose their home to the city if not cleaned. This is just the tip of our community involvement.”
Junk King was founded by two childhood friends in 2005, and has since expanded to 50 locations in North America. Junk King focuses on the needs of each customer.
