Step Up Your Backyard Grilling With These Terrific Tips

Summers were made for grilling in the backyard. Whether you use charcoal or propane, everything you cook on a grill just tastes better. Grilling is the perfect excuse for having friends and family over. After all, no one comes over for microwaving! As you get ready for another summer of grilling, you might want to put some of these terrific tips to work to step up your backyard grilling game.

Use A Meat Thermometer

The most effective way to know if a piece of steak or chicken is fully cooked is to check its internal temperature. You can only do that with a thermometer. You can use the same thermometer you use to check your turkey on Thanksgiving. Or you can improve things by getting an instant read thermometer. The temperature you’re looking for depends on your cooking but the minute you hit that right temperature it’s time to take the meat off the grill.

Use a Grill Basket

Some foods that you’re cooking on the grill like vegetables, fish and fruit might flake apart and fall through the grill. You can prevent that from happening by using a grill basket. This is the same kind of thing you might adapt for your camping trip. You get all the same flavors without losing any of the food.

Testing Your Heat

How do you know if the temperature of your grill is ready for cooking? The quick hand test is a good way to judge. Place your open palm about 5 inches above the grill rack. The fire is at a high temperature if you have to move your hand in two seconds. If you can hold it there for five seconds, then you are at medium temperature. And if it’s there for 10 seconds, then you’re at the low end of the heat.

Cut Back On Fire Flare-ups

Cooking on the grill means you’re going to occasionally have a fire flare-up. This occurs when fat drips onto inflamed. Although that may look cool, it is actually not doing your meat any favors. Instead, it may char the food before it has been thoroughly cooked. The way to cut back on flare-ups is to work with lean cuts of meat. You should also trim the excess fat and remove any skin from poultry. It’s also a good idea to have a squirt bottle of water handy to quickly douse flare-ups that get out of control.

Rest Before Serving

After your meat has reached that’s proper temperature it’s time to take it off the grill but it’s not time to eat. Meats should rest for at least 10 minutes before you carve into them. This allows the juices to redistribute evenly.

Mastering your grill is just part of entertaining in your backyard. The other thing you need to be aware of is all the clutter and rubbish you might have out there. This is not something you want to stare at as you enjoy your dinner. Hiring Junk King Houston is the best way to get rid of your unwanted yard debris. One session gets it all cleared away no matter how heavy or bulky it might be. This is how you should start your summer.
