Don’t Let Junk Ruin Your Holiday Plans

With the holiday season upon us, you may already be feeling a little stressed out. While there are a lot of great things about the holidays, including getting to see friends and family you may not see that often, it is an incredibly busy time of the year. Whether you celebrate or not, there are often school programs, community events, and even work parties to attend. All of that plus shopping and preparing meals adds a lot to your schedule.

The last thing you want is for your holiday plans to get ruined. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can add stress or make you change your plans at the last minute. Some of these things, like the weather or sickness, can be impossible to control. Others, such as waiting until the last minute to shop, can be mitigated by careful planning. Dealing with any junk in your home is another thing you can take care of early on so it doesn’t ruin your holidays. Here are a few of the ways junk can cause you additional stress and what Junk King Irving can do for you.

Junk in the Garage Can Cause Several Issues

It’s easy to let your garage fill up with junk. You may plan on temporarily putting that old chair in the garage until you can ask if someone wants it. The old refrigerator you had out there for extra drinks may have recently quit working, but you just haven’t gotten around to getting rid of it yet. Unfortunately, the more this happens, the harder it becomes to actually get to things in the garage. At some point, it can even become difficult to park your vehicle in the garage

During the winter months, that can be a problem. If you live in an area that gets heavy winter storms, you may have to deal with snow, ice, and hail. Navigating to your car from the front door can be dangerous if it’s icy. You could slip and fall very easily. The ice may also freeze your door handles. If you try forcing the door open when this happens, the handle can actually break. Hail can damage your car, too, plus ice can freeze around tree limbs and cause them to fall on your vehicle. It’s much safer for your car to park it in the garage if possible.

For those hosting a holiday party or dinner, there’s another issue with having a garage full of junk: parking. If you can get your vehicles in the garage, you’ll have to park in your driveway. This takes up space that your guests could use, forcing them to park on the street or even in front of a neighbor’s house. They will then have to walk a little farther in the cold, which can be a risk if there’s a lot of ice on the sidewalks and streets.

Junk King can help you get rid of all that stuff you’ve been meaning to get rid of but just haven’t yet. While storing it in the garage can be a temporary solution, it’s not a good long-term plan. Now’s the time to get rid of those old pieces of furniture, broken appliances, and other stuff that you’ll never use again.

Do You Have Space for Guests?

Another place junk can collect is in your guest space. You may not have a traditional guest bedroom—many people no longer have a dedicated space for guests. Instead, they have a flex space that can serve as a guest bedroom, office, playroom, or other space. Either way, you may find that junk collects in this space, especially if you don’t use it every day. You may have started using this space to store your Christmas gifts before wrapping them or as a drop zone for all of your boxes and packaging from your decorations. Even if that’s not the case, these rooms often become the catch-all space for stuff that doesn’t really have a home elsewhere.

This means, of course, that the room isn’t ready for guests. You may need to do some cleaning and organizing before anyone can stay there. This means moving things to other rooms. While it can be tempting to grab everything and shove it in a closet, put it under the bed, or otherwise stash it somewhere, this can lead to some issues later on. You may not know what you put where, and things will be so disorganized that they will take up more space than they should. Instead of doing this, take your time. Figure out where each item should go and store it there.

You may have some junk in the guest room that you need to get rid of. You can add that to the stuff from the garage and let Junk King haul it all away.

Do You Have Space to Hide Gifts?

If you have kids, you don’t want them to see their gifts until you can wrap them up. Even then, you may not want to put them under the tree too early. Instead, you need a place to hide them. This can be difficult if all of your closets and cabinets are full of junk you don’t need. Another issue can occur after the holidays: you need space to put the gifts you received.

Before the holidays really kick in, you may want to go through your closets and do some purging. This way, you’ll have space to hide any gifts you purchase plus have some room for any new items you may get.

Don’t Let Your Home Embarrass You

Having friends and family over during the holidays can be great, but if you have junk in your home, you may not want your guests to see it. This can lead to shoving old stuff in other rooms or filling up the garage with junk, which leads to the issues mentioned above. Instead of trying to hide junk, why not just get rid of it? After all, there’s no point in saving that kind of stuff. Call Junk King Irving and have it all hauled away. Then you won’t have any embarrassing trash in your house for the holidays plus your home will be clean in the new year.

Why Junk King?

There are a number of junk hauling services out there, so why should you turn to us? First, Junk King is dedicated to helping our customers. We will get you scheduled as soon as possible and when it’s convenient for you. Then we’ll arrive promptly at the scheduled time and handle all of the heavy lifting. We’re quick and efficient, too, so you won’t lose hours out of your day waiting for us to get the job done.

We also know how to get rid of junk in a safe manner. If you try to haul away heavy trash yourself, you do risk hurting your knees or back while doing so. You also have to have a vehicle large enough to haul this junk to the landfill. We already have the truck, and we know how to lift and carry things such as large sofas and refrigerators without getting hurt. Don’t put yourself at risk before the holidays—leave the lifting to the experts.

When you call Junk King Irving about a job, we will give you a complete estimate that includes all possible charges and fees. Sometimes, we can provide this estimate online, via text, or over the phone, especially if the junk you want us to take is standard size. If you have a lot of stuff or some unique trash, we may need to do an in-person estimate. However, we’ll always look over things once we arrive and confirm the estimate. There is never a charge for an estimate, and there’s no obligation attached. You’re free to compare quotes or even walk away, though we hope you consider the value Junk King brings to the table.

We Donate and Recycle as Much as We Can

When we pick up garbage, we don’t go straight to the dump. Instead, we sort out anything that can be donated and pass it on to the appropriate organization. This includes old furniture that’s still in good shape or appliances that still work.

In addition to donating items, we also recycle whatever we can. We fully believe in protecting the environment, and that means reducing the amount of stuff that goes into the landfill. In order to do this, we sort out recyclable materials, including the materials in various pieces of furniture and appliances. After donating and recycling, usually only between 30 and 40 percent of what we picked up goes to the landfill.

What Will Junk King Take?

Whether it’s old furniture or appliances, busted electronics or a worn out mattress, Junk King can take it. We handle everything except hazardous waste. For that, you will need to contact a company that specializes in hazardous materials. Most everything else, even old hot tubs and boats, can go in our trucks.

Is Your Garage Ready for the Winter?

If your garage is like most, it’s become something of a catch-all for things that just don’t have a place in your house. This includes holiday decorations, sports equipment, old clothing, tools, an old refrigerator for drinks, and much more. You may not even know what’s in your garage if you’ve slowly added more and more boxes to it over the years. It may even be so full you can’t park your car in it any longer.

With winter coming, though, that could be a problem. Being able to get your vehicle in out of the snow and ice can protect it from damage. It also protects you. If you don’t have to walk outside on an icy sidewalk to get to your car, you don’t risk slipping and falling. A well-organized garage also makes it much easier to find things during the winter or store additional things such as your yard furniture.

If your garage isn’t ready for the winter, now’s the perfect time to make it so. Here are some tips for organizing and cleaning your garage, including how to decide if you need to keep everything you’ve got stored there. If you don’t, Junk King Irving is here to haul it all away for you.

Junk King Big Truck

Start by Taking Inventory

The first step to organizing your garage and making it ready for the winter is to inventory what you have in it. You don’t need to count every individual item, but you do want to have a good idea of what you’ve been storing. You may have sports equipment, yard equipment, tools, holiday décor, camping gear, and much more out in the garage. If you don’t know what’s stored in the space, you can’t effectively organize it.

Some items will always live in the garage, such as your tools and things you use for your car. However, some things may be better off stored elsewhere. If you have a shed, for example, that may be a better place to keep all of your yard equipment, including your lawn mower. Your basement or attic may work better for storing things you don’t necessarily need to get into regularly. For example, you only need your holiday decorations once a year, so putting those in the attic gives you more space for sports gear that you may need more regularly.

Once you have an idea of what’s in your garage, you can determine what should stay there and what should move to other spaces. Moving these things to their new homes will let you see how much space you have in the garage as well as make room you can use while organizing.

Sort Out the Junk

The next step is to decide what’s trash and what isn’t. This can be fairly easy in some cases. For example, if you moved your broken washing machine into the garage when you purchased a new one, you know that appliance is trash. Other things may need to be gone through. You might discover that some of your holiday decorations aren’t looking so good or that your basketball won’t hold air any longer. Some items may have been stored in your garage for so long that you realize they’re no longer needed. They can go in the trash or donate pile as well.

You may have things that are in good condition but that you don’t need. These things can be passed on to friends or relatives. You can also donate them. Other things may be trash. These need to go in your garbage bin if they will fit. If they won’t, that’s when you give us a call. Junk King Irving can haul away your old appliances, furniture, and much more. If it’s in your garage but you no longer need it, just let us know. We’ll help you get that space cleaned out so you can use it for your vehicle and to store stuff you actually need.

Organizing for the Winter

Now that you have moved some items to other places and gotten rid of all the junk in your garage, it’s time to think about how to reorganize it for the winter. Preparing your garage for the cold temperatures usually means a few things. First, you want to have the space to park your vehicle in the garage. That’s the most important thing because leaving your car out during winter storms can damage it. Hail can leave dents all over the roof and hood. Ice storms can cause tree limbs to fall on your vehicle, denting or even busting out windows. Frozen door handles can break off if you pull on them too hard, too.

Another issue has to do with animals. Pets, strays, and other creatures can get up under your car or on the tires to get out of the snow and ice. Unfortunately, if they don’t move, you may start the car while they’re still up in the engine. You could also start moving while animals are perched up on the tires. This can result in tragedy and damage to your vehicle. Keeping it in the garage ensures these things don’t happen.

Once your vehicle fits into the garage, it’s time to organize everything else you plan on keeping out there. Your tools should have a designated area so you can easily find them. Hanging pegboard on the walls can be a great way of organizing some of these tools. A tool chest can also help.

If you plan on leaving your holiday decorations in the garage, you’ll want to put the winter ones near the front. Move your spring and summer décor to the back of the shelves and put your Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other winter holiday decorations at the front. This way, you can easily find them when you need them. Label all of the boxes with what is in them to make it even easier to organize and find things. You can do the same with sports gear and outdoor items. Put what you need towards the front, such as snow shovels, ice melt, and skis, while your beach umbrella and other summer stuff goes in the back.

Other Ways to Prepare Your Garage for the Winter

Once you have everything organized in the garage, there are a few other things you can do to make the space more accessible and easier to use during the colder months. If you use your garage often for your hobbies, you may want to invest in a space heater to keep the space warm. You can also look into insulating your garage, but typically, using a space heater is enough.

Take time to inspect your garage inside and out. You may need to make some repairs to the overhead door or the standard door. You don’t want any snow, ice, or moisture to get into the garage, so be sure the doors close and seal properly. Check the door that connects your house to the garage, too, if your garage is attached. You want to check it for more than just moisture, though—you want to be sure it seals tightly so cold air doesn’t get into your home.

Why Turn to Junk King Irving to Clean Out the Trash in Your Garage

Cleaning out your garage can take some time, especially if it’s a two- or three-bay garage. That’s a lot of space, and if it’s nearly full of stuff, you may need to devote a weekend or more to deal with it. However, once you have cleaned it out, having all that space will be very nice.

Junk King will come in and load up anything you don’t need. This includes trash and old stuff, of course, plus furniture, appliances, old boats, hot tubs, yard debris, and much more. We’ll do more than just the garage—we can take that old mattress out of your house, get that broken sofa out of the basement, and even take the tree limbs you cut down. We’re a one-stop junk hauling service, so make full use of us.

DIY Projects and Junk King: A Perfect Combination

Working on a DIY remodel or renovation? These projects can be a great way to add some value to your home or make it function in a way that works better for you. However, they’re also a lot of work, and they can easily spiral out of control. Before you know it, you may find yourself doing more work and spending a lot more money than you had originally planned.

If you’ve never done a remodel on your own before, it helps to understand the process first. Knowing what you’re in for is a good way of judging whether or not you really want to take on a DIY renovation. Many people think they fully understand what their project will entail, but they realize they didn’t take into account things such as the debris. DIY remodels can leave behind a lot of trash that you have to do something with.

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as putting this trash into your city trash bin. Instead, you will need to look for other solutions, such as reaching out to Junk King Irving. We can help you with all of the debris from your DIY project plus more. But before we look into what Junk King can do for you, let’s take a look at a few tips that will make your project easier.

Junk King Big Truck

Plan First

It may be tempting to get in there and start swinging a hammer, especially if you hate your kitchen layout or are sick of looking at that dingy tile in your shower. However, if you run into demolition without making a plan, you may find yourself with nothing but a lot of trash and some holes in the wall. It’s a good way to quickly ruin your home.

That’s why having a plan first is important. You will want to sit down and list out everything you want to do in the project. For example, if you’re renovating your bathroom, you may want to put in new flooring, replace the vanity and toilet, and update the shower surround and tile. If you have this on your list, you can start to plan out what you need and budget for it. Once you start the project, though, you might decide on putting in a new light fixture, painting the ceiling, or even changing out the window. Those are additional costs that you may not have budgeted for. Think through everything you want to do before you start.

Also, don’t forget to set aside some of your budget for emergencies. Professionals call this the contingency budget, and it’s there to absorb any costs you didn’t account for. Typically, it’s about ten percent of your total budget, although setting aside twenty isn’t a bad idea if you can do it. That way, you have some extra money in case you find that your bathroom needs all-new plumbing or that you have to rewrite things.

Be sure to find out what permits and inspections you need to have done, too, and don’t skip out on them. The city regulations that revolve around permits are important and are there to make certain your home is safe. If you don’t do a remodel according to the rules, things may be done incorrectly. This can lead to electrical fires, leaks, or other major issues. If you ever go to sell, unpermitted additions can make the process much more difficult.

You May Have More Trash than You Expect

When it comes to debris from your DIY project, you may have more than you think. Many people think that all the trash they will have to deal with comes from the demolition phase of the project. They rip out the old counters, take down cabinets, and remove the old flooring.

However, while that is a large amount of debris, it may not be everything. Calling Junk King right after you complete demolition can be a good idea, but you may actually need us to come back later on in the project. That’s because you may have packaging, remnants of material, and even other demolished stuff to have us haul away. Many materials such as flooring and cabinets do have packaging that you’ll need to get rid of, plus there’s always the risk that you may have to open up an additional wall or other area. In the end, you may have a lot more trash than expected.

Junk King Heavy Lifting

Schedule Everything

You don’t want to schedule your trash pickup just to realize that you won’t be ready. That can happen, especially if you are trying to do the entire project yourself or are doing the work around your job. Since a large amount of debris will be created during the demo process, it’s not a bad idea to try to nail down the schedule.

This means a few things for your overall plan. First, you’ll want to have a definite start date for your project. You might already have an end-date, such as a holiday or other event, that you need your project completed by. During the planning phase, this translates into picking materials that are in-stock or that can be shipped with plenty of time to spare. You should also have backup materials. This way, you can quickly pivot to a material that’s available if your first choice is out of stock and can’t be shipped to you in time.

Another thing you’ll want to make certain is scheduled is your help. Demo with a single person can be difficult since some of the debris is going to be heavy or awkwardly sized. Having at least one other person there to help will make it go faster. You want to make certain these people know when they need to come help you and can commit to that schedule. You also need to commit to the plan.

Finally, think about when you need to schedule us. The first day of demo is probably not the best time for Junk King to swing by your home simply because you may not be done with everything. Have us come on the day you expect to be done with demolition or even the next day. That way, you have a little bit of extra time just in case you end up running behind schedule.

What Junk King Can Do for You

When you schedule your junk pickup with Junk King Irving, you’re doing more than just scheduling a large truck to come by. Our crew will actually haul everything out of your home or yard and load it up. This means you can continue working on your project while we get rid of all the trash for you. In addition to taking the construction debris, we can also haul away any old furniture, damaged appliances, and other trash you have. The only thing we’re not able to take is hazardous waste.

In order to help you budget better, we will provide you with a free, no-obligation quote when you call or text us to schedule your appointment. Due to the nature of construction debris, this quote may not be as accurate as quotes for specific pieces of furniture, but it will be a good ballpark figure. When we arrive, we will provide you with a new quote based on the debris you do have. This quote will include all fees and other costs—we believe in full transparency and do not tack on any extra charges at the end.

What Happens to the Debris?

Typically, we do try to donate as much of what we pick up as we can. If you have furniture or other items that are still usable, they will be donated to a local organization that needs them. With debris, donation isn’t always possible, though we may be able to donate old fixtures, appliances, or even cabinets that are still in good condition. However, we will sort through everything and recycle as much of it as we can. We believe in protecting the environment, and in our case, that means redirecting as much as possible away from the landfill.

What Can You Do with Old Furniture?

Got a lot of old furniture sitting around that you just don’t use? Is it in bad condition, with stains, rips, and other damage? Maybe you shoved it in the basement or in a guest room. Some of this furniture may have come from your parents because they didn’t want it. Maybe you inherited it from family members and haven’t had the heart to get rid of it yet. No matter what the reason is, if you’ve got old furniture, you need to figure out what to do with it. Otherwise, it’s just taking up space you could use for something else.

If you decide to get rid of your old furniture, Junk King of Irving is here to help. We will haul away anything you don’t want, including furniture, old appliances, electronics, and even construction debris and yard waste. We do understand, though, that you may have some emotional connections to the old furniture you have. Here are a few things to consider before you call us.

Is the Furniture Unique or Have Family History?

You might have a chair with a broken leg, but if that chair was made by a great-grandfather and passed down through the family, it’s special. You’re not going to want to get rid of it, and you shouldn’t. It’s irreplaceable. It’s a piece of furniture that has a story to it, and you should tell that story to your kids and grandkids so they know a little more about the family.

Unique furniture is something else you might want to hold on to just because you may never be able to replace it. Furniture that was handmade or is done in a non-traditional style may not be easy to find ever again. Anything that has been personalized is also going to be very, very difficult to replace. Keep this in mind when you’re evaluating your furniture and making decisions about it. You can always look online to see if you can find similar pieces and how much it would cost for you to replace the item.

Junk King Big Truck

Can the Furniture Be Repaired?

Is the furniture damaged so badly that it simply can’t be fixed? If so, it’s time to call Junk King Irving. However, if the damage is mostly cosmetic or if it’s something that can easily be fixed, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth repairing. For those special family items, it likely is. For a bedframe you bought at a department store a few years ago, it’s probably not. Sometimes, the cost of really good, quality repairs is high enough that it’s better to replace the item. This is especially true if you have other issues with the piece of furniture, like the style doesn’t match or it doesn’t look as good as it once did.

If you have antique furniture or a piece that is very ornate, you may need to reach out to a furniture repair expert who specializes in that style or type. You might find that the cost is more than you anticipated because of the amount of work. For example, if you had an ornately carved footboard for your bed that had posts on either side and one post was broken off, the expert has to not only repair that, but they also have to carve the post to match the other one. That can take a lot of work.

You can DIY some furniture repairs, but often those are the items that it’s just cheaper and easier to replace. Do keep in mind the amount of time you might spend on repairs and on whether or not those repairs are going to make the piece last for years. Valuable antique furniture, naturally, may be worth repairing, even if you do have to hire a specialist. You don’t want to just toss these items in the landfill.

Most furniture repair specialists handle transporting the piece to their workshop for repairs and returning it. Some may actually be able to make minor repairs at your home, so they don’t even have to move the item.

Does Anyone Else Want it?

If you have furniture that’s in good condition that you don’t simply want to toss, you can ask if anyone you know wants it. If it’s furniture that has been in your family for years, one of your relatives may like to have it. To avoid a family incident, you should always ask if anyone wants grandpa’s chair or your great-aunt’s wardrobe before you do anything with it.

Even if it’s not an heirloom, someone might need the pieces of furniture you don’t want. If your kids have recently moved out, they might need some additional furniture in their apartment or house. Someone who is expecting a new baby might be in need of a dresser or rocking chair for the nursery. Passing along a used-but-still-usable piece of furniture can be very helpful to those who are on a strict budget and may not otherwise be able to afford to buy furniture.

Junk King Heavy Lifting

Can You Resell it?

Reselling furniture is often a little difficult, but it can be worth it. First, the furniture typically has to be in very good condition. No one is going to want to buy a sofa with stains and rips all over it, even if it is priced very low. If your furniture is in really good condition, you may be able to sell it yourself by posting online or by working through a consignment shop. Many consignment shops will want to inspect the pieces first and will not accept anything that doesn’t meet their standards. Some pieces can be almost impossible to resell, such as used mattresses.

Note that if you’re going to sell the piece yourself, it does mean you’ll have to allow potential buyers to come to your home. If you’re not comfortable with that, you may not be able to sell the item. You could load up small items such as a table and chairs, dresser, or bedframe and meet a buyer in a more public place, but that means you have to have a truck. You also have to be able to lift the items up into it. The buyer could always refuse to buy the piece if it’s not in the condition they expected, too, which means you could do all of that work for nothing. Be sure to consider all of this before listing furniture for sale online.

What About Donating?

Many people do look into donating their old furniture. Again, the furniture needs to be in fairly good condition. It should be free of smells and be safe to use. One roadblock you may face to donating is that you may have to take the furniture to the donation center yourself. This means you’ll need a truck. If you have a lot of furniture you’re donating, you may have to make multiple trips.

Did you know that Junk King will donate anything we pick up that’s still usable? When we pick up junk, we pull out anything we can donate and redirect it to one of the local organizations we work with.

What we can’t donate, we’ll recycle. While old furniture often can’t be recycled as it is, most pieces do have some components that can be recycled. We’ll pull out these components and make certain they get to the right recycling centers

Get Rid of Any Old Furniture that Isn’t Useful

When your old furniture has reached the end of its life, it’s time to get rid of it. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes there’s no other option. There’s no reason to keep furniture that’s broken or that will simply take up space in your basement or garage. When furniture has reached the end of its life, Junk King Irving is here to help. Getting furniture to the landfill can be a challenge. You have to be able to get it out of your home, first, and then you have to have a truck to load it in. We handle all of this hard work ourselves, so you don’t need to worry about being able to move heavy furniture or get it out of your house.

How Does it Work?

We do everything possible to make getting rid of junk easy and affordable. All you have to do for a free, no-obligation quote is give us a call. We can often give you a quote over the phone for standard pieces of furniture. If you have a lot of stuff or some unique pieces that might be larger or heavier than normal furniture, we might need to come out and do an in-person quote. If we do, we can usually start the job right away if you accept the estimate.

Don’t want to talk to someone? You can also text us pictures and a description of the furniture you want us to haul off. Our online price estimator can also give you a ballpark figure for basic pieces of furniture. We’ll always do an in-person final estimate when we arrive and know exactly what we’re dealing with. If you’d like to get the process started or have any questions, call us at 1-888-888-JUNK.

Why Work with Junk King Irving to Clean Out Your Home?

Cleaning out your home is a big task, especially if you’ve lived there for years. You may have accumulated a lot of stuff without realizing it. If you have a basement, attic, shed, or large garage, it’s very easy to lose track of what you have stored in these locations. You may start cleaning out your garage only to realize you have stuff from several decades ago that’s broken or has never been touched since you stored it. What do you do with all of this? Well, if you want to reclaim the space, you get rid of it.

That’s where Junk King Irving can help. We’re a full-service junk hauling company that serves Irving and the surrounding areas. We deal with bulk trash, old appliances, furniture, hot tubs, and even things such as old boats and demolished sheds. The next time you need to get rid of some large items or have a lot of trash to deal with, here are some of the reasons why you should work with Junk King Irving.

We Make it Easy

Doing a deep decluttering of your home is different from doing a deep cleaning. With a cleaning, you know you’re dealing with trash and with a lot of physical work. You’re scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, and other chores. With decluttering, though, you’re often dealing with decisions. These decisions can be unexpectedly emotional, too, if you have old furniture or items that belonged to family members who are no longer with you. It can be hard to let some of these things go, even if you never plan on using them or don’t even like them. You might have some unexpected emotional attachment to some old chairs, armoires, cabinets, and other items.

You shouldn’t get rid of anything until you’re ready, but you do need to ask yourself why you’re keeping these things. Do you really value the item itself so much, or is it more what it represents? Do you want to see these things slowly deteriorate in the basement? If you need the space, it may be time to let some of these things go, especially if they’re not antiques or unique pieces.

Once you do make that decision, Junk King is here to make the rest of the process easy. We will haul the items out of your home and into our truck. You don’t have to do any of the heavy lifting. We will carefully carry the items out of your home so your floors, door frames, and light fixtures aren’t damaged. Our crew also understands how to lift and carry large, heavy objects. You can easily hurt yourself if you aren’t careful when moving things like refrigerators and large entertainment consoles.

Junk King Big Truck

You Don’t Need to Visit the Landfill

Getting bulk trash to the landfill can be a chore. You may not even know where the local landfill is. It could be a considerable drive for you. With the way traffic in and around the DFW area is, you may not want to drive that far with large furniture and other trash in the back of your truck. Then there’s the cost to dump at the landfill. All of this assumes you have access to a truck, too. If you don’t, you may have to borrow one from a friend or even rent one.

Our trucks are large enough to hold just about anything you might have. They’re 20 percent larger than the trucks most companies use, so we have plenty of space. We can take everything out of your garage, basement, or even your entire house. That’s why many people hire us when they inherit a home that has a lot they don’t want or when they’re helping clean out a hoarder house. We also help landlords clean out rental properties and house flippers clean out homes before they renovate them.

We deal with transporting all of this trash to the landfill. Any dumping fees are built into our quote, too. You don’t need to worry about getting things back out of your truck at the dump or finding the time to make the drive there.

It’s Done on Your Schedule

One reason junk tends to hang around is because you can’t always get rid of it when you want to. You may move an old refrigerator out to the garage temporarily until you can put it out for city bulk trash day, but since that doesn’t happen all the time, it can be easy to forget to move it out. Then more stuff gets piled in front of it, and before you know it, that old refrigerator is buried. You may not even be able to see it, so it ends up sitting there for months or even years.

When you call Junk King Irving, we schedule you as soon as we can. There’s no need to wait to get rid of anything. You also don’t have to move any of the junk outside or to your garage, so there’s less of a chance that it will get buried. We will text you when we’re on our way so you’ll know when to expect our crew. We always wear uniforms and carry proper identification, too, so you don’t have to worry that you’re letting strangers into your home.

You Get to Reclaim Your Home

Junk takes up so much space. It can make it impossible to park your car in the garage, find anything in your shed, or make it very difficult to put anything else in your attic or basement. It can even take over your guest room or other space.

Junk King wants to help you regain that space. Once we’ve come and removed all the trash, you’re left with more room to spread out or for new things. For example, it can be very difficult to get new appliances when you still have the old ones. We’ll sweep in and haul the old ones away so you can install your brand-new refrigerator, oven, cooktop, washer, or dryer.

We Do More than Just Trash

Is your deck falling apart? Has your shed seen better days? Need to get rid of that old swing set in your backyard? Junk King Irving can haul all of that stuff off, too. We handle DIY construction debris of all types, so you can call us when you decide to redo your flooring, your bathroom, or your entire kitchen. We will haul away all the old stuff along with any packaging and leftover materials you may have.

In addition to construction debris, we haul off debris of any type. If a storm whips through the area, you may have a lot of tree limbs come down or your fence could come down. When that happens, you’ve got to deal with all this debris before you can even start renovating your backyard. You can’t put in a new fence, for example, unless you get rid of the destroyed fence first. The next time we have a horrible storm in Irving, give us a call and we’ll get your yard cleaned up in no time.

We Don’t Trash Everything

Another reason to work with Junk King Irving is that we don’t send all of your bulk trash to the landfill. So much trash already ends up in the landfill that it’s not going to be sustainable long-term. To that end, we work to reduce the amount of trash we add to the city dump by redirecting items away from it

We start by looking at items that are still usable. Do you have a sofa that has a few stains on it but is otherwise sound? We’ll donate it to one of the local organizations we work with. That sofa may go to a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or other location that needs furniture but has very little resources to buy it. This way, your loved pieces of furniture and still-working appliances can have an extended life while those in need have access to them.

When we can’t donate something, we will look to see if it can be recycled. Many things like furniture and appliances do have some recyclable materials in them. We’ll remove these materials and add them to anything else that can be recycled. In the end, only around 30 percent or so of what we pick up goes to the landfill. Sometimes it’s much less than that, sometimes a little more, depending on what the items are.
