The best way to describe Los Angeles 4th of July fireworks celebrations is “controlled.” The summer weather in the City of Angels can be summed up in one word: dry. As a result, there is always the danger of a spark setting off a raging inferno in the hills and valleys that ring the city. That’s why the fireworks in Los Angeles are always well coordinated and selective. One of the largest fireworks displays put on anywhere in Southern California happens at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. At the opposite end of the Los Angeles you’ll find the Palisades Americanism Parade. This is an all day event featuring an old fashioned parade, sky divers and all sorts of other entertainment leading up to the big fireworks show at Palisades Charter High School.
In between those two geographical points would be the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Fireworks. Although technically these fireworks aren’t going off at the Coliseum they can still be viewed at many downtown areas like Exposition Park. This is when having one of those skyscraper apartments in downtown LA would be a huge benefit. Finally, there also happens to be the ultimate in patriotic convergences when the LA Dodgers will play the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium followed by a fireworks display.
There are a handful of smaller fireworks displays that go on around town. For those annual events, folks know whether or not their backyard is a good vantage point. If so, then it stands to reason they should be throwing a 4th of July bash. Do you have one of those lucky homes? Has it been a few years since you opened up the gates for a 4th of July party?
