There is an addition to the downtown Los Angeles skyline being added. That would be the New Wilshire Grand Tower. When construction is complete, the building will rise an impressive 1,100 feet in the air. It is also being designed to withstand the fierce Santa Ana winds and the rumbling of earthquakes. The area has been cleared and now it is time for the cement pour. This will consist of 2,120 truckloads of concrete being poured into a hole that is 18 feet deep. The trick is that all that concrete has to be poured within 30 hours or else the foundation will be compromised.
