Monterey Basement Junk Removal

You can’t think about Monterey without thinking about the beautiful beaches. They are what make this region so idyllic not only for the locals but for every visitor who is lucky enough to pass through. Yet, beyond the picture postcard perfect images there some who treat those beaches as their own dumping ground. It’s disgusting but luckily there is “Save Our Shores.” This is an international group of volunteer environmentalists who dedicate time throughout the year for cleanup of some of our most treasured shore lines.

Who is an “environmental volunteer?” That would pretty much be anyone who wants to make Monterey even more beautiful. Church groups, cub scouts, fraternities, families and friends can all participate. On a recent Saturday, 3,491 volunteers spread out across more than 70 sites in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties for the Coastal Cleanup Day. In Monterey County alone there were 1,137 volunteers who gladly gave up three hours of their Saturday to pitch in for the cleanup effort. The mission was simple: pick up anything that didn’t belong on the beach:

“This is generally a pretty clean beach, but last year we collected more than 40 bags of dog poop here,” said Laura Kasa, executive director of Save Our Shores. “We’re also going to find a lot of cigarette butts out here today,” Kasa said. “I did a cleanup yesterday on a very small beach and picked up about 600 pieces of trash, half of which were cigarette butts. Cigarette butts seem small and innocuous, but they are little time bombs that fish, birds, even dogs can eat. I met somebody yesterday who said their dog ate four cigarette butts and ended up in a hospital.”

By the end of the day, 16,827 pounds of trash were picked up Saturday in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. That’s a lot of trash to be left behind by such careless visitors. Perhaps reading about this type of clean up might inspire you to think about your own trash. We’re not talking about the trash you get to throw out every week but about that stuff which ends up “sticking around.” This would be the big bulky items which really have no business being a part of your lifestyle.

While it would be great if you could enlist an army of volunteers to help you clear out your basement, attic, closet or garage the only help you’ll really need is from Junk King Monterey. Actually, hiring Junk King is like hiring your own army. They’ll move in at the scheduled time and move out with your junk without you lifting a finger. You get to call all the shots and Junk King Monterey gets to do all the work. They wouldn’t want to have it any other way! Give them a try today. The sooner you clean up your junk the sooner you can get to the beaches!
