When you think of spring break you don’t think Pittsburgh. Usually spring break means beaches and college kids. Of course, just because there isn’t any coastline around Pittsburgh doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with your family on spring break. Here are some great ideas to try:
Carnegie Science Center
There are over 250 exhibits on display at the Carnegie Science Center covering a wide range of topics. Kids can explore a WWII sub and take in a laser show at the four-story, domed OMNIMAX. There is also a Miniature Railroad & Village to marvel at.
Pittsburgh Children’s Museum
The key word at the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum is “hands-on.” This museum is located in an old post office. Inside, kids can explore climbing mazes, launch flying machines and raise themselves up and down with a system of pullies. There’s also art making with silk-screening, painting and computer graphics.
Pittsburg Zoo & Aquarium
If it walks, slithers, flies or swims, then it’s a safe bet you’ll find it at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. This zoo is home to over 4,000 animals who roam in versions of their natural habitats. You can spend the day watching elephants, gorillas, giraffes, tigers and monkeys in action. Over at the aquarium there are sharks, penguins, octopuses and other sea life to experience as well. There’s a lot to take in for sure!
Carnegie Museum of Natural History
If dinosaurs are more to your kid’s liking, then you’ll find one of the finest collections of dinosaur bones and artifacts anywhere in the world. There are also exhibits exploring the vast deposits of minerals and games along with the history of Native Americans and Ancient Egyptians. Plenty of interactive computer games and videos to enhance your exploration of it all.
The best approach to enjoying spring break is to make sure you’ve got all the chores done back at home. What have you been procrastinating about? If it is getting rid of old furniture down in the basement or rubbish out in the garage, then you’re in luck. Junk King Pittsburgh is standing by to lend a hand. In fact, they’ll be lending four hands that are found on the pair of workers who will be doing all the heavy lifting for you. That means anything and everything can go. You’ll enjoy your spring break a lot more after Junk King Pittsburgh has cleared away all your rubbish.
