When packing a box if it is too heavy for you to lift it’s probably going to be too heavy for the movers to lift. It also runs the risk of bottoming out which means whatever you pack inside could end up broken on the street. Try to avoid using newspaper to wrap your breakable items in because that could stain those pieces. To help the movers you’ll want to label the rooms where the boxes belong. The kitchen is easy to figure out but will they know which bedroom is which? Help them out by taping a note to the door of the room that corresponds with whatever you’ve labeled the box with.

The Virginia Historical Society recently indulged in a one-of-a-kind treat: They opened a time capsule that had been sealed for 100 years. As you might imagine, a time capsule locked away in the South would have mementos that invoked the struggles of the Civil War. Among the 100 items stored in the capsule were wartime Confederate documents, the Great Seal of the Confederacy and other postwar keepsakes. There were blueprints for the Confederate Memorial Institute which ultimately became home for the historical society itself. For a real glimpse into the past, there were many random photographs of the local residents also included. These were portraits taken at a time when getting your picture taken was a major event.
