When applying the paste, be sure to work along the grain. You should let it stay on the piece for at least 30 minutes before removing. If you can plan it out, then keep the wax on the furniture overnight. Then use a clean, soft cloth to buff it off.
For Placement
The temperature and humidity of the room where you’re keeping the antiques needs to be closely monitored. In the winter, you should maintain the temp at 70 degrees with humidity ranging between 35%-45%. In the summer, don’t let it get any hotter than 74 degrees with humidity at between 55% and 65%. It will also help to keep the piece away from direct sunlight or any source of high heat like a vent or fireplace. All of that heat can dry out the wood and cause it to crack.
