The definition of illegal dumping varies by state, but usually involves one of the following scenarios:
- dumping waste on public or private property that is not licensed or permitted to receive waste

Scrap yards will typically accept any quantity of metals for recycling, but what you will be paid based on the weight of each type of metal. This means that, if you only have a few pieces of metal, they will still buy it from you, but you’ll likely receive little payout for small quantities.
