Celebrate Spring With A House Cleanout And Decluttering

Okay, so cleaning out your whole house and garage may not seem like much of a way to celebrate anything, but you could celebrate completing the cleanout.

And think of the benefits an uncluttered, organized, and completely clean living space! Especially if you don't have to take of all the junk removal yourself.

Spring Cleaning, Decluttering, and Whole House Cleanouts

When it comes to the month of May, we have a few celebrations that everyone knows about and most folks participate in. There's Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and Memorial Day.

But there are several other observances that many of us are not even familiar with such as May Day, of course, and National Nurses Day, Armed Forces Day, National Maritime Day, and Peace officers Memorial Day.

Then there's some particularly obscure observances and celebratory days that most of us have probably never heard of:

  • May 2: National Truffle Day
  • May 4: Bird Day
  • May 6: International No Diet Day
  • May 7: National Cosmopolitan Day (for sophisticated drinkers...)
  • May 10: Stay Up All Night, Night
  • May 11: National Eat What You Want Day
  • May 14: National Buttermilk Biscuit Day
  • May 15: Chocolate Chip Day

And there are more! In fact, according to an article in The Spruce, there's a special day every day of the month of May. There's even a National Grape Popsicle Day (May 27) and a day to celebrate "No Dirty Dishes" on May 18th.

Which is a great segue into cleaning up the rest of the house. Which, if you plan things right, can set the stage for completely decluttering every room in the house and even the garage. Then, once you've separated out everything you no longer want or need, you can launch into the major home cleanout phase!

And did we mention your garage?

House cleanouts sometimes stop short of the garage and, in fact, that structure often ends up being the staging area for all the clutter and junk homeowners plan to get rid of. Some day.

But, really, when it's the height of spring and summer is just around the corner, who's got time to make trips to the landfill or transfer station? Never mind all the trips to the various Goodwill or Salvation Army shops for the donated items!

So, too often, the clutter, junk, and debris simply gets "moved around" and never goes away...

Another Reason to Celebrate: Decluttering and House Cleanout

If you've lived in your home for more than, say, three years it is quite likely you've also managed to accumulate quite a few belongings. In fact, most of us find that "things" and "stuff" tend to pile up and even seemingly multiply over time.

While you might not be an actual hoarder, some of us tend to hold on to things more often and for much longer than others.  Regardless of your particular tendencies, the result is the same.

So, once you've successfully gone through your entire living spaces - every closet, every shelf, every cupboard, cabinet, and storage area - and removed all the "clutter, " what do you do with it all?

Cleaning and organization experts often recommend separating all your unwanted items into three piles: trash, donate, and sell. For others, selling may not be something they want to spend time and effort pursuing, so it all becomes donations or trash.

The donations can be relatively easy, provide some tax breaks, and give a gratifying sense of having done something beneficial for others.

The trash? Not so much...

It is quite possible to end up with huge piles of trash and garbage items that are far more than you can fit into your trash bin or recycling bin.

In addition, you can also wind up with assorted pieces of old furniture, lawn equipment, broken-down appliances, exercise gear, and a host of other large, bulky "junk" items like used mattresses that you've decided to dispose of.

And that can be a problem. Especially if you don't have a truck or the resources to make a trip to the local landfill.

Then there's the issue of environmental responsibility and being eco-friendly with your disposal choice. Do you really need to take all that junk to the landfill?

The short answer is "no."

In fact, the EPA has determined that up to 80 percent or more of all the solid waste generated in the United States consists of recyclable materials. The problem, though, for most residential folks is that knowing how and where to recycle many of these larger items is difficult.

Not to worry though! A simple call to Junk King means that all of your unwanted junk, trash, and other household debris can be quickly and affordably removed and hauled away for you. And anything and everything that can be recycled will be sorted and separated for processing.

And all you'll have to do is point - and we do all the heavy lifting and loading.

Now THAT'S a reason to celebrate!
