Summer Is Coming - And So Is Yard Waste

Summer Is Coming - And So Is Yard Waste

It may only be early spring now, but summer is coming along with the summer weather. And with spring and summer yard work comes all the yard waste removal!

Also, with the drought still ravaging the Western United States and California in particular, taking care of your outdoor spaces to ensure low water use and water conservation is critical.

Having a Yard Means Having Yard Waste

Unless you live somewhere that is unbearably hot and humid throughout the summer months, it's a great time of year to get outside, enjoy your yard, deck or patio, and have fun. And, if you have kids, summer is the time where the parental directive to, "Go outside!" means lots of noise, playing, and - as part of all the fun - trash and debris.

But that's not the sole source of "yard waste." In fact, actual yard waste refers to both the organic material that tends to pile up like cut grass, leaves, small branches and other things that have been cut, trimmed, uprooted, or simply broken off.

And most residential yard areas see a great deal of use (and endure a great deal of abuse) during the summer season. This includes infrequent mowing, under or over-watering, sudden attacks of crabgrass or other plant pests, and pets - especially dogs.

Along with all of this there is the summer heat and - for many regions in the U.S. right now - a lack of rainfall.

Oh, and don't forget the normal accumulation of trash and junk that comes with a well-used yard.

What About Watering Your Yard?

If you haven't done so already, this might be a good time to make some landscaping changes and adjustments to your outdoor spaces. Instead of planning for additional shrubs, trees, or flowers this season, maybe consider replacing some existing greenery for some enchanting or stylish hardscape additions?

If your backyard only has a small concrete step off the backdoor, perhaps the addition of a smart, paver stone or brick patio would be a better choice. It's not only an accessible DIY project, but it will eliminate some grass or landscaping that will mean less water use overall.

Not to mention giving your home a totally cool spot to barbeque and entertain on those warm summer evenings!

Instead of adding or keeping those shrubs that serve to border your lawn and flower beds, maybe consider some stone walls or even low-profile fence panels to accomplish the task. No watering, no pruning, no clean up.

Many backyards can benefit from the addition of rock and gravel hardscape areas that serve to set off the green of your lawn while adding a striking contrast of color and texture. A well designed area like this can ratchet up the "Wow!" factor of your yard significantly.

Ideas for turning your outdoor spaces into low water use areas and to improve your home's ability to conserve water can be easily found online.

And it can make a huge difference.

While there have been some minor improvements from this time last year, the drought that has blasted the western United States for several years now has not ceased. According to the agency that monitors this situation, National Integrated Drought Information System at NOAA,

"Nationwide drought coverage decreased for the second week in a row, down to 48.8% of the U.S. Still, long-term drought remains across much of the West. As of March 22, 2022, 58.3% of the lower 48 states are in drought."

All of which simply means that making changes in how we manage our residential outdoor spaces still matters.

Planning Ahead for the Summer Yard Waste

Along with the trash and assorted junk that winds up discarded or misplaced in the yard, there is also the usual grass clippings, dead leaves, broken branches and other landscaping cast-offs that are generated regularly all summer long.

And, if your home is like most folks, you've probably got a few worn out or broken down pieces of yard equipment, tools or furniture lying around either being ignored or inconveniently still getting in the way. Maybe you've finally replaced, or plan to replace, that old washer or dryer and have or will have to get rid of the old one.

Summer, of course, is a great time of year for those types of projects. But they also add to the list of yard waste and household junk and debris that will be piling up this summer.

What else could you add to the pile?

How about that old shed you need to get rid of? Or the backyard fireplace you're planning to finally build and install right off the back patio? And, maybe, just maybe this will be the summer you finally remodel the master bath like you've been planning to for the last three or four summers.

All of these are great ideas and needful things perhaps, but what they all have in common is that they will generate loads more trash, debris, yard waste and junk this summer that will need to be hauled off and disposed of somehow. And the more you do the more junk you create.

Part of the planning for summer yard waste is planning for the clean up, hauling and disposal of all that waste. So, what are you going to do?

A Professional Option for Summer Yard Waste Removal

Obviously you aren't going to let that waste sit around all summer since it can be a potential hazard to your family, not to mention an eyesore. At least, you wouldn't plan on doing that. But if you don't plan and prepare for that task it might just happen that way.

And you may find that you'll generate way more debris and waste than you can ever put in your residential "green" waste container.

You don’t want all that trash to pile up through the summer months, and you really don't want to spend your free weekends constantly making trips to the dump. This is why hiring a professional yard waste removal company to come over and clear up the mess for you is the best plan to have.

Quite possibly you've never really considered calling a professional junk hauling firm to take care of your yard waste, of all things If fact, even when the amount of trimmings, foliage, organic waste and debris gets overwhelming, it still might seem like an odd thing for a junk removal company to deal with.

Actually, it's not!

In fact, at Junk King, we remove almost all types of yard debris, including:

  • Branches
  • Clippings
  • Stumps
  • Soil
  • Sod
  • Landscaping Debris

In addition, we specialize in removing and hauling assorted debris often generated by residential landscaping and improvement projects such as:

  • Fencing
  • Firewood
  • Lumber
  • Old Timber
  • Plasterboard
  • Frames
  • Windows
  • Shingles
  • Corrugated Iron
  • and more...
If you've lived in your home long enough you know that junk accumulation is a seasonal process. The fall and winter months lend themselves to less outdoor activity and more destruction of the things left outdoors.

Then, once the winter is over and spring slips into summer, you may find that you should have taken the time earlier to engage in a good spring cleaning. The truth is that after a hard winter even the most organized household can end up with unwanted or broken appliances, and piles of clothing that are damaged or a little outdated.

Not to worry, though!

No matter how long it's been sitting around or how much of it you might have piling up, our expert junk hauling and yard waste disposal team will make easy work of it - and do the work for you!

Hiring the Right Team for Yard Waste Disposal

Summer cleaning might involve much more than grass and weeds getting hauled away. Perhaps you still have an old, broken-down lawn mower (or two) just sitting there taking up space. Or there might be some other pieces of unwanted or broken landscaping equipment that are also just taking up space.

Instead of always working around these old items and equipment, you can take advantage of Junk King's professional appliance disposal service and even recycling for all kinds of landscaping equipment.

Hiring a firm for junk removal for appliances like lawn mower disposal can take this burden off your shoulders and let you take back the space in your garage or shed. It's not just for yard debris and trash!

Junk King provides an efficient, safe and eco-friendly waste disposal service so you don’t need to worry about the pick up or disposal of the debris after your cleaning project is complete.

Junk King recycles more than half of the garbage we collect by hauling it off in our specialized trucks (many of which run on biodiesel), then separating it by material and sending everything to a local recycling facility. In some locations, Junk King even has its own recycling centers.

Whether you need our services several times during a cleaning project or just once after it is complete, our hauling professionals will ensure that the debris is out of your way so that you can get on with the job.
