Houston Landscaping Cleanup

For the big “Clean and Green”  bayou restoration project, the Bayou Preservation Association (BPA) recently joined forces with Harris County Jail. The BPA provided the resources and the inmates provided the muscle.

“Clean and Green is a very important initiative. The program allows inmates the opportunity to give back to the community while restoring the Houston environment,”  said Bayou Preservation Association Executive Director Kathy Lord to the Houston Chronicle. “It is exciting to see the enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by Harris County offenders through this cleanup effort which helped improve Buffalo Bayou and Turkey Creek.”

When you take a look at the rundown of what the inmates carted off it’s pretty impressive. Included were one large rusted pipe, two concrete pipes, four tires, five bags of trash, one metal frame, one car part, 16 Chinese privet, 11 tree ligustrum, 75 Japanese Honeysuckle Vines and four Chinese tallow trees.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a big work crew like that to help clear out your landscape? Actually, you won’t need a big crew when you hire Junk King Houston. These are professional junk removal specialists that are licensed, bonded and insured. In other words, they are dependable workers who know how to get the job done.

Clearing up a yard is hard work especially in the Texas heat. That might be why you’ve put off the job; it’s just too big a challenge for you to tackle by yourself. But with Junk King Houston you’ll be getting at least a two man crew on every job to help remove anything you want taken away. You don’t have to pitch in (although you’re welcome to!); the Junk King crew will do all the work. They’ll also have that big empty truck standing by to get filled up. Don’t worry about getting that truck dirty. In fact, if the crew comes back with a clean truck, the bosses know they didn’t do any work!

Just because Junk King will be helping you clear out your yard clutter doesn’t mean they can’t do the same thing with your indoor clutter. Let them make a sweep through your garage, basement, attic or closets. Whatever you want tossed out, let them know and they’ll be happy to take it away. Doing a major clean up like this in your home can reveal a lot of treasures. We’re talking about space you get to reclaim. Out in the yard you might finally be able to enjoy sitting outside on a cool evening without having to stare at all the junk you accumulated over the years. Inside, if your closet is clear out you can make room for the storage of more important things. In your garage you could actually park the car! The key is hiring Junk King Houston. They’ll be able to haul off all your junk without you lifting a finger. Isn’t that the way to go?

Yard Clean Up in Houston, TX

Many families across Houston are deciding to eat a bit healthier. The best way to accomplish this is by simply adding more “green food” to your plate. This means a lot more salad, vegetables and even fruit. The trick is making sure that the green food you’re eating is as fresh as it can possibly be. Sure it’s easy to pop some frozen broccoli into the microwave and nuke that for dinner but you will be depriving yourself of essential nutrients that can only be found in fresh vegetables. That’s why many Houston families are also growing their own fresh veggies. This is a fun project that can involve the whole family and teach kids about better eating habits. Is there anything better than picking a salad from your own backyard?

If you want to get in on the vegetable growing craze you’ll find it doesn’t take a lot of effort. With spring approaching this is the best time to start your vegetable garden. By planting now you should have a great yield at the beginning of summer. There are only really three things you need to consider when planning a garden: Sun, soil and water.

Most vegetables need around six hours of direct sunlight every day. Plants like lettuces can tolerate more shade than tomatoes but there’s no reason why they can’t grow side-by-side provided you give the tomatoes their sunlight. As for the soil, you’ll want to supplement the natural ingredients of your dirt with fertilizer or compost. Either one of those components are going to infuse the soil with healthy amounts of nutrients that your plans will just love. Adding fertilizer to a garden is especially important when this is a first planting season. You want to begin the condition your soil to accept plants and seeds.

As for watering you need only follow the instructions that come on every packet of seeds to achieve the optimal results. The important thing is to be consistent with your watering. March is the perfect time to plant most varieties of vegetables. You might also want to consider building a fence around your garden just to make sure no neighborhood rabbits or squirrels have a salad before you can!

Getting your backyard ready for a garden planting will mean clearing out yard waste. This could be fallen tree branches, shrubs or piles of sod you’ll be turning over to make room for your garden. Of course, this being Texas there might also be the occasional Tumbleweed that has found its way into your backyard. While you’re picking out your seeds you should think about turning the task of yard cleanup to a professional team of junk haulers nearby – Junk King Houston. They’ll be in the best position to help clear out your backyard because they’ve got all the right amount of muscle and truck space. The muscles for lifting any heavy object and the truck space is perfect for all that dirt. There is one word of caution: once you start growing your own vegetables you might never go back to the grocery store for them again!

Houston Yard Waste Removal

Many kids have fond memories of growing up in Houston and building a tree fort in their backyard. Typically these were hastily assembled structures using whatever scraps of wood could be found in the neighborhood. There might be an old door nailed together on a pallet from the grocery store and slapped together with the tarp over top. It might look shabby but it was the site of endless hours of summer fun. Of course, since we do everything big in Texas is no reason to expect anything less than from our backyard playhouses. Recently an oil company executive in Houston shelled out $50,000 to build a customized playhouse for their two-year-old daughter. This was no ordinary tree fort!
The playhouse was two stories and 170 square feet with vaulted ceilings and shrunken furnishings. There are hardwood floors, a fake fireplace and a kitchen with hot and cold running water. There’s also a freezer always stocked with juice boxes and Popsicles. Upstairs was a 32 inch flat screen TV and DVD player. Naturally this playhouse was air-conditioned. Although some may see this as extreme others like to think if you’ve got it flaunt it!
If you’ve got a backyard and you want to give your kids the experience of having their own tree fort or other kind of playhouse structure you might need to clear out some brush beforehand. If you go to do that then you’ll want to help of a professional crew of yard waste removal specialists like Junk King Houston. Yes were talking junk haulers and just like those junk haulers can take away your old furniture, mattresses or other unwanted items they can certainly load up their truck with sod, fallen tree limbs and other backyard waste.
If a tree fort is not on your redesign list maybe you’re thinking about putting in a new patio to make room for customized outdoor barbecue. This is going to mean tearing up that old patio which is going to mean piles of concrete chunks. Sound like another job for the yard waste removal team. Many Texans have their own pickup truck that can certainly handle a decent hauling job. The issue is how many trips are you going to have to make with all that backyard waste? Its one thing to spend your Saturday off digging up grass, chopping down trees or tearing up cement, but it’s another to have to start making several trips to local landfill. Would you even know where the landfill is that closest to your home? Chances are it could be way outside of town because nobody wants a landfill in their backyard. Now you’re adding several hours of back and forth trips when you could have it all accomplished with just one trip thanks to the junk haulers and their big truck.
As long as you’re hauling away your backyard trash why not haul away all your garage and basement trash why you’re at it? That same truck that’s full of dirt is the perfect spot for all that clutter stuffed in your closets run your bed. Once you backyard is clean then the sky is the limit. Whether its tree forts or patios enjoy your summer!
