Junk King Orange County Donates to The Bicycle Tree

The Bicycle Tree is a non-profit organization built around a bike center and shop. The organization began in 2003 when an empty commercial space was discovered by a volunteer group, many of which were avid cyclers and passionate about reducing waste and making resources more accessible. Inspired by community bicycle organizations across the country, they aimed to create a similar initiative that would provide tools, knowledge, and support for bike repair, helping people maintain their bicycles and promoting sustainable transportation.

After obtaining nonprofit status in 2004, The Bicycle Tree held its first public workshop in 2006, offering a space for community members to learn bike repair in a welcoming environment. Over the years, they adapted their model to mobile pop-up workshops due to space limitations, participating in numerous local events and providing accessible repair services throughout the community. By 2014, they opened a dedicated shop in Santa Ana, significantly expanding their operations. Their Wrench and Ride educational and donational program emerged, offering participants bike education and a bicycle, helmet, lights, and a lock upon graduation. With continued support, The Bicycle Tree thrived, eventually moving to a larger location in 2017 to accommodate its growing community and activities. Now, The Bicycle Tree serves as a resource for thousands of people, offering bicycles themselves as well as bicycle education for all.

In July, three of our team members from Junk King Orange County, Johnny, David, and Lee, made a donation to the Bicycle Tree. They donated two large bicycle racks we picked up to allow the display and storage of bikes at the Bicycle Tree. Our team also donated a few smaller items we had collected to the business.

In an Instagram and Facebook post, the Bicycle Tree wrote, “Big thanks to Johnny and David (pictured) and Lee at Junk King for donating these bike racks and other items to us! We’ve gotten them at least temporarily installed and will help us keep bikes displayed better.”

At Junk King Orange County, community is everything to us. It adds a deeper meaning to our junk removal and hauling services when we are able to donate items to an organization that benefits the Orange County community.
