There is a new way to shed the pounds coming to Richmond and it’s got a lot of folks fired up. Tidal Wheel is an indoor cycling gym that first opened in Virginia Beach. Now it’s setting up spokes in a 600-square foot storefront over at the West End with an eye towards opening up a second Richmond location.
Co-owners Ryan Kelly and Mike Timms are making the move to Richmond because of family and business ties.
“Indoor cycling stuff has gotten so big in the city that we thought it would be a great business venture to take up,” said Kelly to a local newspaper.
If you’ve never gone spinning then you should definitely give it whirl. The difference with this type of stationary cycling is that you’re guided through a “course” by an instructor. They’ll tell you when to speed up and when to slow down. Taking this approach really works the muscles and gets your metabolism raging. Most of the spinning classes offered at Tidal Wave last 45 minutes and that’s some serious spinning.
The gym will have about 20 cycles but no showers or locker room, because of space constraints.
The studio is expected to open in late August. Monthly membership prices are not yet set, Kelly said, but the gym will probably charge about $20 for a 45-minute class.
“Cycling is sort of a tried and true method of exercise. It’s been around forever,” he said. “It’s not going to be a one- or two-year fad.”
It could be that you already recognize the benefits of stationary cycling which is why you invested in your own home bike. But let’s get real. When was the last time you used that bike on a consistent basis? Sure you started out with good intentions but as with most other things, life got in the way.
Nothing wrong with that except that now your home bike is taking up space and you’re not getting any exercise. On the other hand, if you schedule a class at a place like Tidal Wave you’re going to go. That’s motivation. Want some extra motivation? Get rid of that piece of exercise equipment. Junk King Central VA can certainly lend a hand in that regard.
Junk King are the professional junk haulers based here in Richmond who cart off all kinds of stuff. Something like an exercise bike, treadmill or set of weights is going to take at least two people to move along with a big truck. That’s just what you’ll be getting when you hire Junk King. As long as they’re getting rid of your unused exercise stuff they can also take away any other bulky item you want to get rid of. With Junk King you’ll get that junk out of the way ASAP and leave you plenty of time for spin class!
