Take Care Of Microwave Disposal With A Call To Junk King

When microwave ovens were first made commercially available back in the late 60s, they cost around $429. In today’s money, that would be around $4,000. Could you imagine paying $4,000 for a microwave? Today, you can get a microwave for even less than that original price. That makes it one of the few kitchen appliances that are affordable to replace when it breaks down. The issue then becomes how to get rid of that old microwave. That is easily taken care of with one call to Junk King Dayton.

Unplug and Go

For many microwaves, you just need to unplug it and have it carried out. However, there are a few stovetop models that need to be disengaged from that framework. Whatever the case, the Junk King team can take care of the removal with very little effort. In fact, getting rid of an old microwave might just be the easiest job for the Junk King team. Even though you will only need one person to carry out the microwave, you will still be assigned to capable movers. That is a terrific opportunity to take full advantage of. Those two movers can help get rid of a lot more unwanted items from your home. That includes anything that might be down in your basement. Climbing stairs is never a problem for the Junk King team!

When the Junk King squad arrives at your home you will show them all the items that you want to get rid of. If it is just that old microwave, then you will a the very minimum price. Let Junk King Remove Your Old Washer

There are some items in a home that would be considered “duplicates.” Typically, that pertains to clothing. You can have multiple pairs of shoes, pants, jackets and shirts. You can also have multiple dishes and kitchen utensils. However, when it comes to major appliances you really only have room for one. That is certainly true with a washing machine and dryer. Those are the appliances that help keep everyone in the house in clean clothes. When one of those machines breaks down, it can become a major disruption for the family. That is why those appliances have to be replaced right away. The first step is to get rid of the old washer and dryer. That is easily taken care of in a single session from Junk King Dayton.

The Lift And Loading Team

Every Junk King session is staffed by a two-man. This will be your lift and loading team for your old washer removal. The Junk King crews have a lot of experience with this type of removal task. It begins with unhooking the machine from your water and gas lines. It then involves making sure there is a clear path between your laundry room and front door. The objective is to get that washer out of the house without causing any scratches or scrubs to your walls and floors. The Junk King crews always treat their customer’s homes with great respect. The positive reviews from those customers prove that Junk King accomplishes that goal.

The cost for your Junk King session will be determined by how everything you are getting rid of fits on to the back of the truck. One flat fee covers all the labor, transportation and disposal. It’s a very fair and competitive price for this type of service.

The most affordable and efficient way to get rid of an old washer is to turn that job over to Junk King Dayton. Call to make your removal appointment today.

Remove Construction Debris with Junk King Dayton

Turn to Junk King When You Have Construction Debris in Pheasant Hill

Renovation and remodeling projects, even if they’re on the small side, still create a good amount of debris. You may have ripped up carpets, smashed tiles, old bathroom vanities, outdated kitchen cabinets, and much, much more that you have to deal with. What do you do with them? While you could make multiple trips to the local dump, there’s a much easier option: call Junk King Dayton. We will haul away this construction debris so you can focus on your renovation or new build.

Why Do You Need Junk King to Deal with Construction Debris?

Construction debris from a renovation is different from standard junk. You can move an old sofa out of your living room or wrestle an old refrigerator out to the garage without a lot of trouble. However, construction debris is different. For one, it presents more of a hazard. There may be nails, sharp edges, splinters, and other dangers that are not always easy to spot. It may also be very heavy or bulky. You can easily hurt yourself trying to maneuver this garbage out of your home.

The team at Junk King Dayton is used to dealing with this type of waste. All of our employees are trained to recognize potential risks and carefully handle the material. They not only focus on their own safety, but they also keep an eye on your property. They will carefully move all debris out of your home without skinning up your walls or damaging your flooring.

Another reason for calling on Junk King to handle remodel and renovation waste is that we have the capacity to haul it. We have a fleet of large trucks that can easily accommodate old cabinets, bathtubs, drywall debris, appliances, and much more. In many cases, our large trucks can hold all of the debris, so we only need to make a single trip to your property. You don’t have to worry about loading up the debris or making any trips to the landfill. We do it all.

Do You Need a Junk Hauling Service?

Do you need us to remove your construction debris? When doing a remodel, even if you’re only updating a small bathroom, there will be a lot of debris. You may be surprised at how quickly this waste adds up. You may have broken tile from the floor or shower surround, old mirrors, a large vanity, and much more.

If you’re doing the kitchen, you’re looking at a lot of debris. The same is true if you decide to install new flooring throughout your home. Simply removing the carpet from one room may be more than you expect since you also have to deal with the carpet pad and, if you’re replacing it with laminate or wood, the tack strips and other items.

Getting rid of construction debris is not always easy, either. Local trash services will often only take bagged trash. According to the Dayton Public Works website, the city will not collect “building materials such as…drywall, wood, and plaster.” They will also not accept HVAC parts, air conditioners, hot tubs, or spas.

We will haul away these materials, old appliances, and more. If there are any materials you have questions about, ask us if we will haul them away when you call to make an appointment. You can also text us photos of the junk you need removed or message us through our website with a list. With a few exceptions, we can take just about anything.

What Else Will Junk King Remove?

In addition to construction waste, Junk King Dayton will take almost everything. We don’t remove gravel, dirt, or any hazardous wastes, but we will handle most everything else. Here is a partial list of other junk we will remove:

Furniture
Televisions
Electronics, including computers, printers, and cell phones
Appliances, including washers, dryers, ovens, and refrigerators
Yard waste
Mattresses and bedframes
Hot tubs
Trash

Want to Fill a Dumpster as You Go? We Can Help with that, too!

Remodel projects often create waste as they go. While much of the junk be made during the demolition phase of the project, you may also create more waste while you work. For example, if you have to cut tile to fit, those cut off pieces will slowly start to add up. You may have empty paint cans, packaging from engineered floors, and more.

If your garage is empty, you can store this waste there until you’re ready for Junk King to come pick it up. But what if you don’t have room to keep this trash around? We have a solution for that: rent one of our dumpsters.

We offer affordable dumpster rentals in Pheasant Hill and the surrounding Dayton area. We will bring the dumpster to you on the day you need it, drop it in your driveway or other designated space, and then return to pick it up when you’re done. You don’t have to pay for the entire dumpster, either. Instead, you only pay for the space you use.

Click Here To Book A MINI Dumpster Today!

Our MINI dumpsters are 7.5 feet wide by 11 feet long, so they can hold a lot. Since they are smaller than traditional dumpsters, though, they can easily fit in your driveway or other space. You won’t have the eyesore of a large dumpster outside your home, plus these dumpsters don’t cause as much damage as the larger models.

A self-service dumpster is great for home remodels, but you can use it for more than that. They’re also ideal for doing a major declutter or a backyard renovation. You can fill these dumpsters with any of the materials we pick up, so you can add your construction debris, yard waste, old appliances, and much more. Once you’re done, give us a call and we will pick up the dumpster within three days.

We Recycle Much of What We Pick Up

We understand you are concerned about the environment. We are, too. That’s why Junk King aims to recycle at least 60% of everything we pick up. The U.S. produces 728,000 tons of garbage every day. That is a huge amount, and we want to do everything possible to reduce those numbers for the Dayton area.

We recycle everything we can. Wood, plastic, and paper are taken to the appropriate recycling center. For electronic waste, which is becoming more and more of an issue, we work with local e-waste recycling experts. These experts remove the hazardous batteries and other waste from the electronics and recycle the remaining components.

Ready To Book? Click & Save $20!

What about construction debris? The good news is that materials such as brick, metal, glass, and wood can all be recycled. Even porcelain and ceramic tiles can be recycled. We will take as much of your construction debris as possible to a recycling center, lowering the amount of garbage you contribute to the landfill.

In addition to recycling debris, we also believe in reusing old furniture and appliances. If you have any junk that is still in good condition, we will donate it to local charities, shelters, and other organizations that help those in need. You may be surprised to learn that there are groups out there looking for items that are typically removed during renovations. Sinks, cabinets, doors, light fixtures, and even old cabinet handles and drawer knobs are in demand. We will go through your construction debris and separate out any useful items to donate before disposing of the rest.

E-waste Disposal & Recycling in Dayton

Junk King Dayton

The average household in the United States has two televisions, and a lot of homes have a lot more than that! Televisions tend to have about an eight-year “useful life” in most homes before they are replaced. But what happens to these electronics at the end of their “useful life”?

The fact is that LED and LCD televisions might be a lot sleeker than the cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions that they’re replacing. The problem is that CRT televisions and computer monitors – the ones with the fat backs – are filled with lead glass and heavy metals, rendering them hazardous to leave in landfills.

Popping your CRT television in the trash is also not a great idea, and it might even be illegal in your area. Many old CRT televisions contain six pounds of lead and other harmful metals like cadmium, mercury, beryllium. For all of these potential dangers, many of the materials inside CRT televisions can be recycled into fresh products and household appliances.

Electronic Waste

Some have estimated the amount of CRT waste in households around the United States at five billion pounds. The amount adds up when you consider that many of these televisions were purchased decades ago and that millions of households have one or more stowed away in the basement.

Because you might have a very difficult time reselling an old television, you might want to consider Junk King as one convenient option. If your old television is a CRT television, then recycling might be problematic because the newer LCD and LED screens don’t use that kind of lead glass anymore.

(What’s more, there’s not much of a need in the recycling market for the kind of lead glass on offer with CRT technology.)

Two great options when you’re looking to get rid of your old television are contacting a certified vendor to find out more information on recycling or simply contacting Junk King. Junk King is a full-service junk removal company that allows you to pick a date and time with two-hour service windows. At Junk King, we take almost every imaginable kind of electronic waste, including:

  • -Televisions
  • -Computers
  • -Monitors
  • -DVD players
  • -Printers
  • -Copiers
  • -Shredders
  • -And much more!

Junk King can help to recycle or donate your old television for you. The latter option is a good one if your television is in working order since schools, non-profit organizations, and homeless shelters can all benefit from a usable television.

Recycling Old Televisions and Larger Electronics

E Waste Disposal

The Consumer Electronics Survey conducted a study in 2014 and found that 46% of homes had at least one CRT television, which can likely be recycled. Although the lead glass is typically not prized very highly, the circuit boards inside contain copper and there’s likely some amount of gold, silver, and palladium inside larger electronics.

The first step that many recyclers will take when approaching an old television or monitor is separating the glass from the plastic casing. After removing the lead glass from the casing, the smaller parts may be shredded into more manageable pellets; then, optical sorters will separate the plastics inside from the valuable metals, such as gold and silver.

Earth911

The website Earth911 will allow you to find a local recycler in your area if you’re looking for e-waste removal of CRT televisions or CRT monitors in your area. The plastic, copper, and wood that compose your old television can be turned into new products or sold anew on the commodities market. Some buyers specialize in the circuit boards themselves and would be happy to put in a bid once your old television is recycled!

New call-to-action

Electronics Retailers

More national electronics retailers, such as Best Buy, have their own recycling programs. The actual policies vary by state but typically Best Buy will take CRT televisions and CRT monitors that are 32 inches or less and LED televisions that have screens that are 60 inches or smaller. A retailer like Best Buy may still take your CRT television if it is over 32 inches, but there’s a different protocol.

If your television is very bulky, then Best Buy might have to pick it up from your home per e-waste removal. The pickup can come with a fee. Retailers like Best Buy might have a special policy whereby they will waive the fee and take a CRT television bigger than 32 inches from your home or workplace as long as you purchase a new television from Best Buy.

For small televisions and monitors, though, you can take the electronics to your local participating retailer and they will recycle them for you. Best Buy has a pretty generous policy whereby they will take up to three approved household appliances per day. (Best Buy is the single biggest retailer collector of e-waste, with over two billion pounds of e-waste and appliances taken to date.) Approved appliances include:

  • -Televisions
  • -Video game consoles
  • -Audio equipment
  • -Cell phones
  • -Radios
  • -Cameras
  • -Car audio
  • -And more!

Best Buy takes 400 pounds of products for recycling every minute that the Best Buy doors are open. Best Buy will take the approved electronic waste and household appliances irrespective of where it was purchased. Just remember that appliances that are very large (e.g., CRT televisions over 32 inches) may incur a pick-up fee under certain circumstances.
