Woburn Junk Removal: 5 Ways Junk King Can Help You Love Your House More in 2022

Woburn Junk Removal

Your home is a comfortable haven, and you will want to ensure it is healthy, clean, and safe for your family. While most homeowners are cautious about the cleanliness of their homes, a good number of them seemingly don’t notice the possible effects of clutter. Any garbage either outside or inside the house is unhealthy and unsightly. It harbors millions of harmful bacteria that can cause diseases. This is why it is vital to get rid of such trash. The best way to do so is by hiring a professional Woburn junk removal company, like Junk King Middlesex. They are trained professionals that will help you declutter your home.

Here are five ways a Woburn Junk removal company can help you keep your house clean and neat in 2022.

Full Service Junk Removal

1) Thorough Clutter Removal

Professional junk removal experts will get rid of trash everywhere in your home. Whether it is a broken bike that you no longer use or old magazine pieces, these professionals will help improve your home. They organize dirty areas by enhancing lawn supplies and putting things in order. A junk removal company can also eliminate broken furniture that makes your home look rusty.

Removing outdated memorabilia that constantly accumulates dust and/or takes up space goes a long way in rehabilitating your home. Even better, Junk King Middlesex will ensure rubbish is removed from your home on the same day. Here are the advantages of having debris removed on the same day;

Enhances Living Conditions

Improper waste handling can cause diarrhea, infection, dysentery, etc. These conditions can be very harmful to your health. Even worse, mosquitoes, insects, pests, can thrive in the clutter. Your pets can get germs from piles of rubbish and transmit them to your family. As a result, you will end up suffering from health conditions.

Saves time and effort

Removing trash on the same day saves time and effort. A junk removal company will get everything done while you focus on other things. In most homes in Middlesex, Massachusetts, residents wait until the garbage truck comes by to collect trash, meaning you need to have sufficient storage space. Also, this exercise can be time-consuming and tedious. However, professional junk removers will get rid of it on the same day and guarantee efficiency.

2) Increase Usable Space

Clean Out

You will love your home more when there is more usable space. A professional Woburn junk removal company will make this possible by freeing up cluttered areas in your house. Once the crowded nooks and crannies are freed up, your home will have breathing space again. This creates room for various family activities.

Getting rid of old cartons of knick-knacks and rolling up a comfortable carpet will make your home clean and fresh again. The thing is, if there is something you are keeping in the house that you haven’t used in the last few years, you can safely get rid of it. You can imagine how beautiful those crowded spaces in your home will look if you get rid of all the clutter. It might feel like you are moving into a new home

3) Increase Your Home’s Value

Woburn junk removal companies will preserve the beauty of your home’s exterior. This goes a long way in improving your home’s curb appeal. They will get rid of the old and unsightly piles of trash around the house. With thorough cleaning, trash removal, and decluttering, you can significantly improve the overall appearance of your home. This also helps improve your mental well-being.

Thorough cleaning also reduces the number of pests and insects like termites in your home. This helps maintain your home’s wooden structure’s structural integrity. This will help capture the attention of potential buyers. You also don’t have to spend a lot of time trying to clean your home.

4) Reduce Health and Safety Risks

Moldy clothes, rusty metal, and other sharp objects are safety and health hazards for pets and children. They are also harmful to adults. Keeping old clothes in a plastic bag may make them mildewed under various conditions. You could easily sustain cuts when you contact the sharp edge of rusty metal.

Furthermore, residual chemicals like oven and paint cleaners are often flammable and likely to cause fires or explosions. This usually happens when they are exposed to heat. Worn storage containers or musty shoes can be an excellent breeding ground for mice or insect nests. This increases the chances of disease transfer. Therefore, you should get a junk removal company to remove them as soon as possible.

Having Woburn junk removal professionals get rid of your junk can be a massive relief. They help avoid health hazards and make it easy for you to enjoy your newfound space. This will go a long way in making you love your home more in 2022. A neater home also improves your mental well-being. What is important is you should avoid letting clutter pile up in your home. Have professionals take it away as soon as possible. This will help improve your family’s health and keep diseases at bay.

5) Implement Environmental Friendly Ways of Removing Junk in Woburn

If you are not experienced with handling trash, you may also not know of environmentally friendly ways of getting rid of it. The environment forms an essential part of our livelihood. You can imagine how messed up the environment would be if we all dispose of litter in the wrong way. Professional junk removal services know how to get rid of the trash without damaging the environment.

Therefore, it would help if you worked with a reputable junk removal company that safely disposes of your trash — not piling them in junk yards. Luckily, you can get reliable Woburn junk removal companies that guarantee environmentally friendly trash disposal. They have resources that will ensure the environment remains clean. Therefore, if you value the environment, get professional junk removers today!

6 Factors Preventing You from Decluttering and Cleaning Out Your Home

Decluttering Clean Out

Decluttering is vital if you want to control the accumulation of unused items in your home. You can develop an annual routine to get rid of useless or unused items and live in a clean home. While this looks like a simple activity, you may be struggling with it.

Removing junk from your home can be overwhelming or even scary depending on the attachment you have with the items. However, you should still embrace decluttering and enjoy your space, time, and freedom. Embracing decluttering means sailing above the factors that could prevent you from decluttering. These factors range from social to psychological, and, in both cases, you can seek the services of professionals, such as Junk King Middlesex for your home cleanouts to improve your mental and physical health.

Read on for six factors preventing you from decluttering and possible solutions.

1) You Think You Should Keep the Items for Sentimental Value

Clean Out

Hoarding items because you think you should is very common, especially if they remind you of your loved ones. It is very easy to hold on to such possessions even when you would be better off with just the memory. If this is your struggle, you should remind yourself that the feeling is in the act and not the object, and weigh the benefits of keeping the item versus throwing it away.

If you have too many items that belong to other people and you cannot enjoy them on your own, it is time to consider releasing them. You can even hand over the items to your other relatives rather than have them lay idle in your cabinets or space.

2) You Are Storing Items for Other People

Some people get stuck with clutter, claiming that their children or grandchildren will inherit their items. While this seems like a good gesture, you could be passing on a burden to the next generation by making them store items that they would not keep if it were up to them.

Thus, before you decide to do this, consider the duration you want to keep the item, the type of item you are keeping, whether the intended person will like it and if they will treat it as precious. If the intended party is of age, you can talk to them to know whether they are comfortable with your decision, as this may save them a lot of guilt should they want to dispose of the item in the future.

Learn more about our dumpster rental services.

3) You Are Storing Useless Items Thinking They Will Be Useful in Future

Most individuals struggling to declutter usually state that the items in their house are there if a need arises. They even worry that if they dispose of them, they will regret it in the future, which is why they store them. Talking yourself into keeping items just in case you need them is very easy and can convert you into a hoarder. Thus, before storing items, ask yourself whether you are likely to use the item in the next decade and if it is easy to find in case you need to buy another one when the need arises. If your answers to these questions disqualify your reason, then donate or dispose of these items.

4) You Are Shopping More Than You Are Taking Out

Clean out

The 24-hour economy allows everyone to shop anytime they want, increasing the chances of re-cluttering. If you have difficulties throwing away old or useless items after shopping for new ones, decluttering will be an issue. For others, it is the guilt of wasting money by throwing items they spent money on or the feeling that these items are still in perfect shape that prevents them from decluttering. Thus, if you fall in either category, you should consider a professional home cleanouts company to help you get rid of these items lest you get trapped with clutter in your home.

5) You Feel Safe Having Lots of Stuff

Sometimes, your fear of scarcity in the future could make you hold onto things in the present.  This scarcity mindset makes you hang on items as they give you a sense of security even if you are not using them. Thus, to deal with this, you should change your view on decluttering as something that gives you more space and freedom to enjoy valuable things in your home.  While you may feel safe having many items around you, a cluttered space could be your source of stress and burden, and it may just be the right time to appreciate that you don’t need as much to live a fulfilled life.

6) You Feel Overwhelmed With the Idea of Decluttering

Depending on your decluttering routine, you could have many items to dispose of. This can make decluttering a tiring experience mentally, physically, and emotionally. You may also not know where to start, and the clutter could weigh you down and make you feel defeated. While you may justify it, this is not an excuse to avoid decluttering your space. Instead, you should dive in and start with the smallest room to the largest. As you continue, you will gain the momentum, confidence, and motivation to keep going. Over time, you will see the results and appreciate your decision to start small.

Also, you should focus on mending habits that could accumulate clutter, especially if it has to do with your shopping habits and keeping non-essential items for security reasons.

Wooden Pallets Removal: An Essential Plank in Commercial Junk Removal

Wooden Pallets

Business owners know how frustrating it can be to have new inventory coming in and not enough space. New supplies typically come on pallets or within cardboard boxes. These can eventually pile up, contributing to clutter in warehouses and storage facilities.

At Junk King Middlesex, we help businesses to declutter and make room for new inventory. We try to recycle upwards of 60 percent of every commercial junk haul, as well, so that wooden pallets and cardboard materials get recycled. We also take plastic and metal containers, in addition to wooden pallets removal.

Metal, Plastic, and Wooden Pallets Removal

Pallets usually come in three flavors: metal, plastic, and wooden. Junk King works with local recyclers to give each of these materials a second life. Wooden skids and stringer pallets can be recycled along with plastic pallets, pallet boxes, and solid deck pallets. Scrap metal and pallet trays are also made of fully-recyclable metal materials.

The National Wood Pallet and Container Association (NWPCA) says that 1.9 billion pallets are used every year in the United States. The lion’s share of these pallets is constructed from wood (approximately 95 percent), whereas the rest are made from wood composite, plastic, or corrugated metals.

The funny thing is that a large number of pallet producers themselves often cannot say what kind of lumber comprises wooden pallets. That’s because a variety of hardwoods and softwoods contribute to wood pallets. Mills in different parts of the country process different woods, depending on the growing region and harvest that year.

  • Recycling Wooden Pallets

There’s an unquenchable industrial need for what is known as remanufactured or reconditioned pallets. These are sometimes also called ‘combo’ pallets because they are made out of the materials of yesteryear’s pallets. That is certainly much better than chopping down more trees!

The hospitality and beverage industry also has a great need for off-size custom pallets, so business owners and supply chain managers in these industries predominately rely on remanufactured pallets to economize. There’s an international standard known as ISPM 15 (export shipping) that remanufactured pallets pass with flying colors.

Wooden pallets removal that goes towards remanufactured and reconditioned pallets help the environment, too. A lot of people have the hopeful thought that wooden pallets can be popped into landfills with no harm done. Aren’t wooden pallets biodegradable? Somewhat. The truth is that wood products take, on average, about 15 years to decompose in landfills.

  • Issues with Plunking Pallets in Landfills

The problem with putting wooden pallets into landfills – aside from taking these pallets out of the recycling and reuse circulation – is that they are treated chemically.

A chemical treatment can make pallets a less attractive option for bugs and mold, but it can also be worse for the environment if the pallets are piled up in a local landfill. A particular chemical known as methyl bromide can harm the local environment (water, air, and soil) and the ozone layer.

Wood actually decomposes with the help of fungi, and this fungus relies on damp conditions to do its work. Mostly because landfills themselves are overcrowded, the wood pallets piling up in landfills don’t have the right conditions to decompose naturally.

Landfills have been a widespread American phenomenon since the 1960s, but that model is breaking down because the landfills themselves are severely overcrowded. The landfills these days are usually too wet (for too long) or too dry to accommodate the fungi growth which would decompose pallets.

The lack of proper conditions to promote fungi growth coupled with chemical treatments of the pallets and overcrowded landfills calls for an alternative solution. At Junk King, we pioneered that better way a long time ago, since we started recycling-based junk removal nearly twenty years, back in 2005. We also offer a 100% quality guarantee to complete peace of mind.

Pallets and Commercial Junk Removal

Beyond warehouses, pallets can be an issue bedeviling construction job sites, proper managers, and storage facility managers. Once the new equipment comes in or the tenant skips town, who’s there to pick up the mess? At Junk King, we’re here to help with wooden pallets removal and a host of other commercial junk removal services, including:

Wood products made up around 10 percent of the material that Americans sent to landfills in 2017, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. This is higher than you might think because 11 categories made it into that study, and the weight of all this wood taken collectively is pretty substantial, to the tune of about 12 million pounds of wood sent to landfills in 2017.

Wooden pallets were actually about 90 percent (by weight) of the 10 percent of material sent to landfills in 2017. All of these pallets are still trying to decompose in overcrowded landfills today. Wooden pallets removal with Junk King can dramatically cut down on the amount of wood forced to decompose in landfills every year. Remember that about 2 billion wooden pallets are circulated every year in the United States.

Junk King takes all kinds of scrap metals in addition to wooden pallets removal. What some may be surprised to discover is that these two items can cross paths – wooden pallets are often fastened together with the help of nails. These nails, in turn, can be difficult to remove from pallets, and they often just stay in place if the wooden pallets make their way to landfills instead of being recycled properly.

While most wooden pallets are repurposed into tomorrow’s wooden pallets, they can also be turned into mulch and kindling. The catch is that for wooden pallets to be turned into mulch or kindling they can’t contain nails, since nails hidden in wooden pallets can ruin the machines that turn pallets into mulch. Recycling is the way to go. Simply consider that wooden pallets make up 50 percent of the hardwood consumption in North America every year.

Understanding Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling in Middlesex

appliance_removal

The Environmental Protection Agency says that there are about 10 million refrigerators and freezers thrown away every year in the United States. That makes sense considering that every home has at least one fridge and the restaurant and hospitality industry relies on them to run their businesses.

But how the heck do you get rid of your refrigerator? True, some municipalities will take your refrigerator as part of their curbside pickup programs, but that leaves the problem of how to get your refrigerator or freezer to the curb in the first place. What if your refrigerator has been on the fritz for years and is collecting dust in the basement?

Thousands of customers have already relied on Junk King to conveniently and safely remove their refrigerators and freezers. At Junk King we’re a full-service junk removal company, so you can rely on us to bring the right equipment and manpower to get a refrigerator weighing hundreds of pounds out of your home or workplace.

Eco-friendly Refrigerator Middlesex Recycling

The average lifespan for modern refrigerators is around 13 years, but if you’re reading this then your refrigerator might have already given out. Older refrigerators might cost more to repair or replace than it is worth to buy a new one over the long haul. Sometimes older refrigerators contain dangerous chemicals that need to be handled before recycling the valuable metals inside.

The Environmental Protection Agency calls refrigerators and freezers ‘durable goods’ partly because they are designed to last three years or more. Large appliances like refrigerators and smaller appliances like toasters both qualify. Various consumer electronics and lead-acid automotive batteries also qualify under this definition. Fortunately, we at Junk King take all of these and much more! Everything except for hazardous waste.

The glass, metal, and plastic from your old fridge can likely be recycled, but you have to be careful about how you go about it because refrigerators can contain harmful chemicals. Older refrigerators can contain mercury and polychlorinated biphenyl sometimes called PCBs. Refrigerators also may contain toxic gases and chlorofluorocarbons that can do serious damage to the environment if not handled with extreme care.

Energy Savings Via Refrigerator Recycling

The good news is that 95% of materials from recycled refrigerators can be transferred into the manufacturing of new products, thus preventing more mining and harvesting of raw materials. You might want to give Junk King a call for removing your old refrigerator once you hear this next fact: old refrigerators use three times the energy of newer, more energy-efficient fridges. The latter is likely marked with the Energy Star logo. An older fridge is said to use 1500 kWh of energy, whereas newer units only require 500 kWh to run at full capacity.

Another reason that recycling is an excellent idea is that the energy savings have a positive impact on the environment in addition to your wallet in the form of lower utility bills. Remember that about 10 million refrigerators are tossed every year in the United States. Among those 10 million units that might otherwise wind up in the landfill, if a mere 0.25 percent (25,000) are recycled then that’s the equivalent of removing the carbon dioxide from 50,000 vehicles

The Refrigerator Recycling Process

There are a few refrigerants and liquid materials that need to be removed from your refrigerator unit before they can be properly recycled. A refrigerant known as R-22 is present in older refrigerators, whereas newer refrigerators contain a less harmful but still pernicious refrigerant known as R410A.

Refrigerants, Condenser Oil, and Heavy Metals

The Environmental Protection Agency says R410A is less harmful to the environment than R-22, but each needs to be treated with respect to avoid environmental damage. Refrigerators also have a part called a compressor, which some have called the ‘heart’ of the fridge because it ‘circulates’ the refrigerant throughout the system to keep all of your food nice and cool. (Ironically, the compressor adds pressure and warmth to make the refrigerant hot.) The compressor allows the refrigerant to cool down, condense, and turn from gas to liquid.

All of this is made possible thanks to your compressor, true, but that compressor, in turn, requires compressor oil. Compressor oil needs to be removed from your refrigerator before the recycling process can get underway. Likewise for any mercury in the refrigerator. Mercury is a heavy metal that was used predominately in refrigerators before the year 2000 or so; mercury, like lead, can contaminate local groundwater and soil if left in landfills, so it needs to be properly handled before recycling, too.

Recyclable Metals, Glass, and Plastics

In the same way that aluminum cans are coveted by recyclers because of their resistance to corrosion and ability to be repeatedly recycled without a loss in quality, the aluminum in your refrigerator is of the most prized components for recycling. That said, several metals, such as steel, and plastics in your old fridge can be recycled once the junk removal professionals at Junk King pick it up.

Modern fridges typically have tubing made of copper, which is highly recyclable and a hot commodity of late. Both the aluminum and copper in your refrigerator are used partly because they provide a shot in the arm to your fridge’s overall efficiency and have unmatched thermal transferring. The upshot is lower utility bills, a fridge that lasts many more years, and food at just the right temperature!

Certain components in your fridge are also made of plastic, which can be readily recyclable. You might have also noticed that the back of your refrigerator appears to have sheet metal. That’s exactly what it is, and it can be recycled, as well. A thick layer of sheet metal is usually employed by refrigerator manufacturers to encase the refrigerator’s cooling system and further increase efficiency.

Ready to kickstart the process of recycling your old refrigerator with Middlesex recycling? If you’re ready for Middlesex recycling and for Junk King to stop by your home or workplace to pick up a refrigerator, consider booking an appointment online or calling 1-888-888-5865 (JUNK) today.

Looking for Convenient Furniture Removal in Bedford? Start with Junk King

furniture removal

All of us at Junk King Middlesex are dedicated to being as environmentally conscious as possible. That means overcoming a few of the problems that have plagued furniture recycling for decades.

The Environmental Protection Agency says that every year more than 12 million tons of furniture and other furnishings get thrown out. Of that prodigious amount of furniture that makes its way to landfills, only a tiny percentage gets recycled.

The reason for that is furniture contains different materials that are difficult to recycle or must be recycled, cleaned, and reprocessed through different recycling facilities.

Full Service Junk Removal

Eco-friendly Furniture Removal Bedford

Some people don’t think that the process is worth the effort. As North America’s greenest junk removal company, we’re different. Furniture removal Bedford takes virtually every kind of residential and commercial furniture piece.

Junk King takes the following furniture:

  • Couches
  • Recliners
  • Sectional sofas
  • Headboards
  • Nightstands
  • Chairs
  • Bunkbeds
  • Futons
  • Mattresses
  • Bookcases
  • Office desks
  • Cabinets
  • Chests
  • Coffee tables
  • Patio furniture
  • And much more!

Most of the furniture items mentioned above are recyclable, at least to some degree. The tell-tale sign for whether a piece of furniture is recyclable or not is to look at the materials that it is made of.

Furniture that is made mostly out of one material, or composed of a limited number of simple materials, can typically be recycled. A bookcase made of metal or a bed frame made of wood is both typically highly recyclable.

Furniture made of wood or wicker can be recyclable, but it may have to be sent to a special recycling facility. Metal is usually easy to work with and can be recycled by metal recycling, and metal furniture can be reprocessed and turned into other products down the line.

There are other pieces of furniture – e.g., patio furniture – that contain a lot of glue, particleboard, plastics, and compressed wood that cannot be as readily recycled.

Efficient Commercial Furniture Removal Bedford

Property managers and business owners can be tempted to handle furniture removal on an in-house basis, but the costs can quickly add up. Supposing that you can throw away furniture in the dumpster out back, what happens with going about moving and transporting the furniture on your own?

Going about office furniture removal on your own often means sidelining one of your workers to spend a day or three attempts to get furniture downstairs and into a dumpster. Will the furniture fit in the dumpster? Can you workers handle it? Is this the most efficient way to proceed?

At Junk King, we offer full-service commercial junk removal, including bulky office furniture. Junk King is a top-rated service committed to efficient service; payment plans for business accounts also make service more convenient.

Junk King handles all kinds of commercial junk removal, including commercial furniture removal in Bedford. Junk King can help with commercial equipment removal and commercial scrap pickup in addition to full warehouse cleanouts, property management cleanouts, foreclosure cleanouts, and storage facility cleanouts.

Fair and Transparent Pricing from Junk King

All of the furniture that you need to be removed can still be removed by junk removal Bedford. At Junk King, we make it a priority to only charge customers for the actual space they use in terms of the volume they take up in the big red Junk King trucks.

This is a huge advantage for customers, compared to the pricing structures that competitors might have. For instance, many junk removal companies will charge customers based on the weight of the particular furniture pieces added up together.

That can be a severe disadvantage when it comes to a back-breaking desk or den couch. Junk King does things differently. You will only pay for the interior volume that your furniture takes up in the Junk King truck.

Another advantage that is sometimes overlooked is that Junk King can remove everything you have extremely efficiently. With Junk King, you can book an appointment online, pick a date and time, and have your residential or office furniture removed potentially within a day or two of reaching out to us.

Free, On-site Estimates Includes Everything

At Junk King, we provide free, on-site written estimates. An estimate for furniture removal Bedford will include all labor charges, taxes, and dumping fees. Junk King is a full-service junk removal service. This means that you can expect prompt service from our fully insured, experienced crew tailored to your schedule.

Without Junk King, you might have to incur these costs separately, which could add up without the experience and economies of scale that Junk King leverages for your benefit. Furniture removal Bedford can also be done through Junk King dumpster rentals

The Many Benefits of Recycling Old Furniture

If you went about junk removal yourself, you would likely have to worry about labor costs, transportation, paying the fee for a landfill, or finding local recycling centers for all of the relevant materials (woods, metals, plastics, and so forth).

Junk King does its best to recycle old furniture and ensure that furniture removal Bedford is done in an environmentally responsible way. Recycling old furniture reduces the need to expend energy or resources on new materials. This reduces the need to, for instance, cut down trees for wood to make new furniture.

The Environmental Protection Agency says that a “significant portion” (about 20 percent) of furniture and furnishings was put towards energy recovery via combustion in 2018. The flip side is that about 80 percent of this product sector was destined for landfills!

Recycling more and keeping materials in circulation reduces carbon emissions and overall pollution that would have resulted from locating and processing these raw materials. Lower levels of deforestation will also translate into environmental benefits since trees help to capture carbon in the atmosphere.

Now’s the Perfect Time for Big Recycling Jobs in Middlesex

Recycling Middlesex

What is recycling and how does it benefit the environment? I like to start with the basics – In Middlesex, recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials, such as certain plastics and metals, that might wind up in landfills otherwise.

Recycling can significantly reduce the amount of total waste that goes to landfills and incinerators. That’s good news because items like used mattresses can contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and electronics can contain heavy metals like mercury, lead, and cadmium that can do damage to the environment

The trouble with not recycling is that the items will decay in landfills or be burned in incinerators. A mattress takes up 100 cubic feet of space in a landfill and can take many decades to decay in a landfill, where toxins could be sent into the soil, groundwater, and air.

The incinerator route is not much better since burning these disposable products creates toxins, which are likewise sent into the atmosphere. The best option is to recycle these materials because that prevents new manufacturing/mining and keeps harmful materials out of landfills/incinerators.

Create Positive Feedback with Middlesex Recycling

Products that get recycled stay out of landfills and incinerators, where they can pollute the environment, true. But did you know that more new products than ever are being produced by recycled materials?

By recycling more products you’re doing your part to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions out there, as well as the number of microplastics that harm the environment.

Aluminum Cans

Aluminum cans, for instance, are recyclable and can be spun back around into new cans in two months!

Aluminum cans can also be turned into new cars you see purring down the street. Car bodies and tractor-trailers can be constructed from recycled aluminum cans.

The beauty of recycling aluminum cans is that they can be recycled indefinitely without compromising the aluminum. This is a lot better than letting the can go to waste and getting crushed in an incinerator somewhere down the line.

The staggering part about recycling aluminum cans is that doing so uses about 1/20th of the energy of producing aluminum cans from scratch, i.e., from the bauxite ore.

Cardboard

Because at Junk King we do complete foreclosure cleanouts and estate cleanouts, we come across a lot of cardboard boxes that can get recycled. Cardboard is typically recycled into a new board.

Although that might sound obvious, the process checks a lot of boxes in terms of usefulness and being environmentally conscious. More than 90 percent of products that go through the mail system in North America are housed in cardboard packaging.

It is also reported that over 40 percent of the solid waste stream is composed of cardboard. In other words, you can help save a lot of energy and decrease the volume of solid waste that clogs up landfills by recycling cardboard.

Recycling cardboard is said to be 25 percent more efficient than manufacturing new cardboard, in terms of the energy required to get a usable product from each process.

Paper

Junk King also handles garbage collection and dumpster rentals for homeowners and business owners (B2B). At Junk King we take all of the items found below as far as junk removal:

  • Boxes
  • Knick-knacks
  • Books
  • Tools
  • Tires
  • Rubbish
  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Tires
  • Floorboards
  • Plasterboard
  • Frames
  • Windows
  • Shingles
  • Corrugated Iron

Junk King is North America’s ‘greenest’ junk removal company, and Junk King Middlesex is committed to recycling as many of the items above as possible.

Paper, like cardboard, is one of those nearly ‘all-purpose’ recyclables because it can be turned into so many different products upon getting processed.

Today’s recycled paper can be turned into needed items like tomorrow’s newspapers and telephone books. Recovered cardboard and paper can also be turned into tomorrow’s egg cartons and computer paper used for printing documents.

Learn more about our dumpster rental services.

Paper can also get turned into tissues, magazines, napkins, road surfaces, and loft insulation. Amazingly, the paper you might otherwise throw out can be recycled into so many new products.

The recycling experts say that recycling a ton of paper is the energy equivalent of being able to power a home for 6 months!

That’s incredible – even more so when you consider that recycling paper benefits the environment twice over. Leaving more trees out there in nature leads to more carbon capture and less carbon dioxide in the environment, as well: more ways recycling benefits the planet.

Plastic

Some of the new uses for plastics are equally eyebrow-raising and surprising. For instance, your plastic milk container could be turned into the playground equipment that youngsters play on tomorrow.

The frisbee getting tossed right next to the playground may also have come from your recycled plastic item. Likewise, with the upholstered chair that is resting on the carpet – both upholstery and carpet can be recycled from plastic products.

Glass

Glass bottles, like aluminum cans, can be recycled and recycled indefinitely without compromising the material. Junk King and Middlesex recycling are great ways to ensure more aluminum and glass get recycled.

Glass can be made into flooring, stones, and tiles. It is reported that approximately 90 percent of recycled glass zips over the container industry, where it is used to make new bottles and jars.

About seven percent of the garbage in the United States is composed of glass. Glass is really important to recycle, like aluminum, because it can be totally and continually recycled. This means that recycled glass won’t lose strength or quality with repeated recycling.

Junk King and Recycling in the US

Junk King in the United States is said to be a $200-billion industry. The recycling industry also provides the economy with many more jobs than the landfill industry, and the former (recycling) is also a lot more eco-friendly.

Recycling the items mentioned above is often many times more efficient in terms of energy conservation than, for instance, mining for new raw materials and manufacturing new products from scratch.

Andover Yard Clean Up: Finally Get Rid of That Old Swing Set

Yard Clean Up Swing Set

Questions come in all the time about whether yard waste can be thrown into the municipal trash in Andover. The short answer to whether yard waste can be put into regular trash is “no, not really”, and that answer will be unpacked below.

For larger yard waste, such as removing old swing sets, Junk King is an excellent resource. We are a truly full-service junk removal company that handles everything from heavy lifting to transportation and recycling/repurposing through local vendors and charities.

Yard Waste in Andover

The town of Andover has pretty strict standards when it comes to accepting yard waste. The following items are acceptable for regular trash, according to the town of Andover’s website

  • leaves
  • grass clippings
  • dead flowers or plants
  • wood chips
  • hedge clippings
  • pine needles
  • brush 1 inch or less in diameter

For the town to pick up your yard waste via curbside pickup, you need to place the approved items above in a biodegradable paper bag and follow a few other rules.

For instance, if you toss any brush, then it cannot be protruding from the top of garbage barrels; what’s more, everything must be tied in bundles, according to the town of Andover’s website.

(Yard waste in plastic trash bags will not be taken via curbside pickup.)

Given these restrictions, you still have a few options when it comes to yard waste. You could compost certain items, which will be discussed at the end of this article, or you could always rely on Junk King Middlesex to do all the heavy lifting.

At Junk King Middlesex, we take a huge variety of yard waste and can even handle larger items you may have in your yard like old swing sets, hot tubs, or patio furniture and do it around your schedule. Here’s a list of examples of the items that Junk King accepts:

  • Branches
  • Clippings
  • Stumps
  • Soil
  • Sod
  • Landscaping Debris
  • Fencing
  • Firewood
  • Lumber
  • Old Timber
  • Plasterboard
  • Frames
  • Windows
  • Shingles
  • Corrugated Iron
  • and much more!

Junk King can take all of the items above plus handle the removal of hot tubs, above ground pools, outdoor furniture, and swing sets or playgrounds. For these kind of items, you are probably better off using Junk King Middlesex over another local service because these items are heavy and contain recyclable metals.

Get Rid Of That Old Swing Set and Other Large Backyard Structures in Andover

Customers are also pleasantly surprised to find out that Junk King Middlesex handles small demolitions. Therefore Junk King can tear down sheds, hot tubs, swing sets, and treehouses, hauling away the debris afterward.

Virtually the only caveat is that the treehouse, etc. can’t be attached to the main building structure. (Junk King accepts almost every kind of residential and commercial junk, except for hazardous waste, e.g., gasoline, paint, and motor oil.) We do accept e-waste and construction debris, but the EPA rules on hazardous waste can be, at times, confusing.

But if you’re reading this, then you’re probably already thinking about removing your old shed, treehouse, or swing set outback. These might have been eye-catching at the time they were constructed or put in place, but now they’ve become more of an eyesore that you’re hoping to get rid of ASAP. That’s where Junk King Middlesex can come in.

A swing set can also be fun and games while it remains in perfect working order, yet can quickly become a nightmare if it falls into a state of disrepair. Rusty nails coming out at odd angles and wood that is splintered or moldy might only be the beginning of the health hazards posed by old swing sets and treehouses.

  • Wooden, Plastic, and Metal Swing Sets

Many wooden swing sets are made from cedar, redwood, or pine. These can look fantastic at first but quickly decay without routine upkeep or simply succumb over time to the hard Massachusetts winters. Junk King can break down your wooden swing sets and – because we take yard waste like lumber, firewood, and fencing – find the right re/use for it down the line.

Vinyl swing sets are said to utilize a pinewood wrapped in PVC which has been pressure-treated. The walls of a playset outback might well also be made from PVC, a plastic known as polyvinyl chloride. Certain kinds of PVC (e.g., PVC-U) can be fully recycled up to about a dozen times without degrading the material. That’s great for the environment and saves a lot of energy!

In terms of swing sets Massachusetts removal, some swings have seats that can pose issues. The seats from your swing sets might be made of plastic, wood, canvas, or even rubberized plastic material. We can handle all aspects of your swing sets Massachusetts removal. Junk King is a full-service junk removal company – in fact, the ‘greenest’ junk removal in North America!

Organic Yard Waste, Inorganic Yard Waste, and Composting

Yard Clean Up

Organic yard waste is yard waste that can be composted. The process of composting is simply putting certain materials back into the soil to further fertilize your soil or garden. Compostable yard waste includes grass clippings, brush, and leaves. These can go right back into nature or be picked up by Junk King as part of yard waste removal

Composting is said to have many benefits, including:

  • Enrich the soil
  • Reduce the need for chemical fertilizers
  • Retain moisture
  • Deter pests, weeds, and plant diseases
  • Promote healthy bacteria and fungi

Junk King takes both organic yard waste and inorganic yard waste. Examples of inorganic yard waste can be found on the list above in this article. Examples of inorganic yard waste include fencing, plasterboard, frames, windows, shingles, and corrugated iron. Inorganic yard waste can also include swing sets Massachusetts removal, lawnmower removal, and shed removal.

At Junk King, we have a 9.8/10 rating from over 70,000 customers across North America because we handle jobs with professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy. Junk King can actually demolish your shed and remove the remains as well as easily take down and remove old swing sets, playsets, and treehouses.

Estate and Foreclosure Cleanouts in Middlesex? No Problem!

Clean out

Handling big cleanouts can be intimidating if you go it alone. Rooms full of clutter or a warehouse chock full of debris is not necessarily a pleasant sight, true. At Junk King Middlesex, though, we make large cleanouts as easy as possible by coming with as many trucks as needed to get the job done. That’s what being a comprehensive junk removal service franchise is all about.

Junk King Middlesex helps homeowners, renters, and landlords from all corners of Middlesex County get a space clean and ready for use. Everybody’s needs are different, which is why Junk King offers a variety of different services. Since Junk King is a full-service junk removal company, we’ll do all the heavy lifting and haul away even the largest appliances in an eco-friendly way.

Estate Cleanouts at Junk King

Several different circumstances can result in needing to clean out your entire house. Although some of these circumstances can be difficult, Junk King is here to offer help. An estate cleanout is when you need most of the items inside a home removed as quickly as possible.

Reasons for an estate cleanout can include:

  • -An upcoming move
  • -Downsizing/lifestyle change
  • -Extensive renovations
  • -A loved one passing on
  • -Overwhelming debt
  • -Divorce settlement

With an estate cleanout, customers typically want everything removed from the home, including heavy appliances and furniture. While Junk King takes all of these items – Junk King will take virtually any residential and commercial junk except for hazardous waste! – you might want to take a few steps before an estate cleanout.

Checking boxes, shelves, drawers, and pockets of clothing for anything that you might want to retain is a sensible first step. There are, also, some important documents that you’ll probably want to hang on to before an estate cleanout, including:

  • -Burial certificates
  • -Insurance policies
  • -Real estate deeds and titles
  • -Bank statements
  • -Stock certificates
  • -401(k) records
  • -Tax returns and receipts

You might want to make a quick check to see if any of these items are stored digitally on the hard drives of computers or tablets on the estate. These files can likely be saved on an external hard drive if you’re thinking about wiping the hard drive on these devices after getting the files you need. Remember that Junk King accepts electronic waste (e-waste), so you’re covered there.

Aside from checking for these kinds of files – the physical copies and possible digital versions – it might be a good idea to check drawers and dressers for valuables before an estate cleanout. Memorabilia and mementos might also want to be retained before an estate cleanout.

Although estate cleanouts are difficult, Junk King’s comprehensive junk removal service is here to help make the process easier and less stressful for you and your family.

Foreclosure and Eviction Cleanouts

Business owners, property managers, and landlords also face the challenge of getting junk cleared from a space as quickly as possible. Oftentimes, an eviction can mean a lot of left-behind furniture, old appliances, and trash strewn everywhere. Discarded appliances could also be part of the picture.

Reliable Service, Insured Workers, and Payment Plans

Fortunately, Junk King provides a host of B2B commercial junk removal services to get your business up and running at maximum efficiency. Every employee here at Junk King is fully insured for complete peace of mind. Junk King even offers payment plans and business accounts for easier payments, in addition to reliable service within narrow service windows.

Quickly Clear Space for Landlords

Landlords face similar problems to property managers and storage facility managers who need the space cleared to rent to the next client. Although there might be a lot of work ahead in terms of routine maintenance, painting, cleaning, and repairs, the more short-term problem is getting the old tenants’ junk out of there. Unwanted items and junk left behind by old tenants or customers can be priority number one.

About a third of people rent, according to the Census Bureau, and businesses are constantly looking for more attractive space. That means that there’s a lot of turnover, consolidations, and reasons to remove junk. A full-service junk removal company like Junk King is a great option because we have the resources to maneuver heavy items like dressers, filing cabinets, and appliances downstairs.

Storage Facility Managers Rely on Junk King

Junk King Middlesex also helps local storage facility managers get the junk out of existing space to shore up room for new tenants. Storage facility managers face many of the same problems as property managers and landlords, namely, getting the space ready for rental after an old tenant or renter has left. The self-storage industry in the US is nothing to scoff at since it represents about 60,000 storage facilities and $40 billion in annual revenue.

Eco-friendly Service

Because Junk King is the ‘greenest’ junk removal company in North America, you can also feel good about what you’re doing. The Environmental Protection Agency found that only about 22 percent of junk gets recycled, but Junk King is here to dramatically boost that number. Foreclosure and eviction cleanouts create a lot of waste and more opportunities for eco-friendly disposal and recycling!

Junk Removal Service and Large Item Removal

appliance_removal

Junk King is an extremely convenient option for removing large items such as water heaters, refrigerators, and bulky office furniture. If you go it alone, you have to worry about having sufficient manpower, transporting the junk down flights of stairs safely, and ensuring that the municipal trash or landfill will actually accept your junk. There’s also the matter of having a large enough truck.

At Junk King Middlesex we greatly simplify the process by taking the following large furniture items

  • -Couches
  • -Sofas
  • -Sofa Beds
  • -Mattresses
  • -Chairs
  • -Tables

Guide to Yard Cleanup

Yard Clean Up

With any problem you typically want to tackle the obvious stuff first. Even better if tackling the obvious chores makes the rest of your yard waste clean-up easier. So, where do you start with yard waste? Ideally, you start by simply picking up litter around your yard.

(Of course, the crew at Junk King can handle that for you as well!)

Remove Large Debris

Removing large branches from your yard and dead leaves and annuals around your garden is a good place to get your hands dirty. Just make sure that you wear gloves if you’re going to be doing the heavy lifting.

Weed with the Right Equipment

Many yard experts recommend weeding with gloves and a five-gallon bucket so that you won’t have to make time-wasting trips to the garbage. A bucket can also serve to dump smaller yard debris before Junk King comes by to pick up all of your yard waste.

yard waste removal guide

Be Smart with Leaf Cleanup

These same yard waste experts frequently recommend using tarps when going about rounding up the leaves in your yard. The idea is to use a rake or leaf blower to get leaves onto the tarp; at that point, the leaves can be more easily dragged away for disposal.

Inspect Gardening Tools

Because Junk King accepts all kinds of gardening tools, you might want to inspect the tools in your shed or garage to see if they’re up to snuff for next season. Dull or rusty might be ready for the ‘big red’ Junk King truck.

If your landscaping equipment, e.g., lawnmower, edger, or trimmer, doesn’t make the grade then simply point to it and a Junk King professional will haul it away.

Consider Pruning

Pruning Yard Waste

A little planning can go a long way. If you are planning on having some yard waste removed (e.g., old fencing), then you might consider doing some pruning of shrubs and perennials so that Junk King can take everything away in one go.

Prepare a Compost Pile

This last option is optional. Many homeowners may want to prepare a compost pile by collecting grass clippings, old leaves, mulch, and various bits of foliage from their previous clippings.

By gathering everything into one pile and mixing some topsoil in there, you will be well on your way to a proper compost pile. The only thing left to do will be to add water for the right level of moistness.

Fall Yard Waste Tips for Homeowners

Junk King offers a lot of options for homeowners looking to get rid of their yard waste, including shed removal, fence removal, and dumpster rental. Renting a dumpster makes sense if you want to take your time pruning, etc. and you don’t want piles of yard waste overtaking you as you proceed.

Learn more about our dumpster rental services.

Tarp for Composting

Following the tarp tip alluded to above for cleaning up leaves in the fall has several payoffs later. Getting the leaves onto a tarp can allow for easier disposal, but it can also allow you to move the leaves to a compost pile elsewhere.

Rinse Out Gutters

Rinsing out the leaves that have accumulated in your gutter throughout the year is also a great cleanup idea for fall. Leaves can block your gutters and prevent your drainpipes from functioning optimally.

With the use of a gutter attachment on your hose or a pressure washer, you can quickly prevent leaves from causing major headaches down the line. While cleaning out your gutters, you might notice that your gutters require a minor repair.

Damaged gutters should be fixed sooner rather than later. Because Junk King takes all kinds of yard waste, you can count on us to haul away yard waste like damaged gutters or broken fencing.

Pressure Wash Deck or Driveway

Pressure Washing

While you have out your pressure washer, you might want to remove those pesky stains in your driveway or take away any dirt that you notice on the side of your house. Decks are also a popular hangout for accumulating dirt.

One Last End-of-season Mow

Before the season is up you might consider giving your yard one last mow and bagging all of your clippings. The clippings can be used to provide a nice compost for next year’s fresh grass growth. Mulch may also help protect the grass in the hardier colder climate.

An edger or string trimmer can also be a convenient tool to have at the end of the season because it can create sharp lines around your property before you close things down for the season. When you trim late in the season, you can be assured of having nice lines in the winter.

Junk King for Yard Waste Clean Up

Junk Removal in Bedford: Recycling Made Easy with Junk King

Junk Removal

My crew and I at Junk King Middlesex provide environmentally responsible junk removal in Bedford and the surrounding areas. You will be pleased to know that Junk King Middlesex accepts commonly recycled items like cardboard, glass, and plastics as well as nearly everything else.

Junk King is proud to be North America’s ‘greenest’ junk removal company. I’m honored to be a part of the tradition of eco-friendly junk removal. While a lot of progress has been made, there’s still much more that can be done.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that about 300 million tons of municipal solid waste were generated in the United States in 2018. Of that almost 100 million tons were recycled or composted, which makes the recycling rate about 32 percent.

Which Items can be Recycled?

That’s a question that we get all the time. The answer is that Junk King Middlesex takes almost every kind of residential junk or commercial junk, except for hazardous waste, and almost all of it can be recycled, reused, or repurposed.

The crew at Junk King Middlesex has optimized the process and will separate similar items in our truck to make the process of recycling it all that much easier at the warehouse. Junk King can also recycle many more items than your average curbside recycling program can. Some examples are,

Paper, Glass, and Plastic

Plastic Recycling

Paper products like newspapers and magazines can be picked up and recycled by Junk King Middlesex. Cardboard, glass bottles, and glass jars can also be taken away as part of Junk King’s full-service junk removal. Junk King can also recycle rigid plastic products unlike other recycling programs.

As long as the products aren’t soiled, they should be eligible for recycling and junk removal in Bedford. Remember, that virtually the only items that my crew doesn’t take are hazardous waste.

Electronic Waste

E-waste

Junk King Middlesex works with e-waste recyclers to help homeowners responsibly dispose of their electronics. That’s great news because back in 2008 Massachusetts passed the ‘Mercury Management Act’. That prohibits the disposal of any product that contains heavy metal mercury.

Electronics like flat-screen monitors, televisions, and fluorescent lamps contain mercury. And, old cathode-ray tube (CRT) televisions and computer monitors contain quite a bit of lead. Because of the type of glass used for the screens of those devices. Making these products difficult to safely recycle.

E-waste is something of a double-edged sword because something like a cell phone contains harmful heavy metals. which need to be kept out of landfills, but also semi-precious and precious metals, such as gold and silver. When your electronics reach the end of their ‘useful life’, consider contacting Junk King to help with responsible e-waste disposal and other junk removal in Bedford

. e-waste recycling

Scrap Metal

Scrap Metal Removal

My crew also works with metal recyclers in Massachusetts to enable homeowners and businesses to recycle renovation/construction debris. Scrap metal may contain iron, steel, aluminum, brass, and copper. All of these metals can be recycled through local scrap metal recycling initiatives.

Our junk removal in Bedford programs can also include taking beams, wires, and construction debris from the job site, or plumbing fixtures from the home after a bathroom renovation. These fixtures often contain steel and copper, which can both be taken by me and my crew to local metal recyclers in Massachusetts for further processing.

Construction Debris

Construction Junk Removal

Junk King fully supports recent efforts in the state of Massachusetts to have more new constructions comply with the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) project. LEED helps ensure that more materials in construction can be successfully processed and recycled.

An asphalt pavement and the asphalt shingles that make roads and roofs, respectively, can be separated and crushed to ultimately make a new mix. The fresh mix can go towards making new roads. Recycled concrete can similarly go towards making new homes (concrete is hard on the environment to make initially).

The crew at Junk King Middlesex even accepts ceiling tiles. It has been found that recycling the equivalent of 100,000 square feet of ceiling tile saves a whopping 70,000 pounds in terms of landfill mass, 35,000 gallons of water, and 700,000 pounds of unused materials.

Another way to say it is that this much ceiling tile would require approximately 134,000-kilowatt-hours of electricity to make afresh, so that’s how much recycling old ceiling tiles could ultimately save, according to Recycling Works Massachusetts. Everything from ferrous (iron) metals to processed wood and virtually any construction waste can be easily recycled by Junk King.

For junk removal, in Bedford call 1-888-888-5865 (JUNK) or book an appointment online to save $20 on orders of more than $99.

Mattresses

Furniture Removal

Removing used mattresses is a surprisingly common request for junk removal in Bedford. Hotels, university dorm rooms, real-estate cleanouts, and hospitals can have dozens or even hundreds of mattresses that need to be promptly removed, and Junk King is here to help.

Junk King, also takes mattresses from homes, and these can be recycled as well. (The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is on the verge of adding mattresses to its list of items that are banned for regular disposal.) At Junk King Middlesex we do our best to ensure mattresses get recycled, donated, or otherwise reused.

Mattresses contain many materials that can be recycled. The metal, wood, textiles, and foam from an average mattress can be recycled, and it probably should be for several reasons. Mattresses contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can pose environmental and health issues. What’s more, mattresses just take up a lot of physical space in landfills!

Mattress recyclers may not accept futons, mattress pads, and waterbeds, but Junk King Middlesex does!
