This is important if there is a gap between when the parents come home and when the kids are let out of school. Of course, if a kid is active in after-school programs like sports or drama, then this gap will always be filled.
Cut Back on TV & Video Games
Summer is always the time for more TV and video games. Now that school is back in session, those two commodities should be more of a reward than a habit. The only time they should get activated is when homework is done. Even then, there should be a cut off time. The focus is on the books now.
Get Checkups Done
If you have done so already, then try to schedule your kid’s physical exam, dental checkup and eye exam. You want to get all the vaccinations out of the way before school starts and make sure they’re clear to participate in sports if that is what they want to do.
Get Organized
It’s not a bad idea to set up some sort of “in box” for your family. This is where all the school paperwork that needs to be filled out and signed can go.
